About chic&basic Zoo
chic&basic Zoo is in El Born, now one of the most fashionable and cosmopolitan districts of central Barcelona. On one side is the Gothic Quarter, to the other is Ciutadella Park, and the port is a few minutes away. From the hotel, guests can easily get to the historic center of the city, the Gothic Quarter (Barrio Gótico) where the cathedral, Santa Maria del Mar, Plaza Sant Jaume and Santa Anna are located. The hotel is also very close to the zoo, the Ciutadella Park, beaches and the Olympic Port. In the neighborhood guests will also find nightlife, bars, restaurants (the area of El Born is where you´ll find the most typical ‘tapas’) and museums, such as the Picasso Museum.

La ubicación Todo estuvo bien
-
It was close to many shops and restaurants and the park/zo The towels were rough, the shower Was clogged, checking in and having to be buzzed into the building felt like a hassle.

The location was amazing. The staff was SO helpful and SO nice! The price was pretty high for 2 days for how basic the place was. Had it not been for the location of it I would have felt worse about this.

Perfect location for our needs It’s a bit funky, but that’s kinda what makes it cool

My room had a very tiny window looking into the building hall where the smoking area is. So had very little light and had to keep the curtains closed all times causing an environment with no daylight at all

- The location is great. - The staff was friendly, and I believe they did the best they could given the circumstances. - The wifi was working without any issues - AC was not working (not cooling) despite our request to turn it on or change the room to one that doesn't heat up so much during the day - There was mould in the bathroom, and the ventilation didn't work - Noisy. The constant door slapping during the night and in the morning prevented us from having a good sleep - There was only one small window that opened just 50cm wide to a noisy backyard, and it provided very little cooling - The bed was rather small, one plaid for 2 people, no headboard - you can't read a book and lean on the wall/pillows without the bed moving. There were dust bunnies underneath. - We were not informed about the climate fee until we arrived at the hotel

The location was great There was no fridge in the room

Location is nice, near arc de triomph, room is alo clean It was a bit weird to check-in in a lounge and then walk a little bit to another door and take the first floor of a residential building to reach the rooms.

Not your usual hotel but ok for the price and breakfast. I appreciate the staff kindness but the bathrooms need to be renovation. The bathroom was falling apart.

The location is great, and the building and balcony are nice. I really appreciated the nice gifts and the free coffee in the kitchen. The room could use a bit of renovation, especially the bathroom, and the corridor is a bit dark, which can feel slightly uncomfortable.

We thought the price was perhaps a bit high.

Location Location

Price and location were great, compared to other properties I looked at online. Beds and pillows were comfortable and everything was clean Hot water ran out when we were getting ready for the day. Waited an hour and got it back.

Good location with a cute aesthetic. There was a common room that had sparkling water, coffee, tea, cookies, and some marshmallow candy that was kind of yummy.
-
great location, near barcelona zoo and a big green park the bed was not comfortable, because the were two single beds put together and two mattresses put together, and it is not comfortable to sleep on it.
-
Very clean, bed and pillows were very comfortable. Good towels and body wash supply. Cleaners came daily to change everything. Welcome gift which was a tote bag water natural juice chips and some sweets. The location is everything! Close to all u can imagine! The shower did not have any handheld head just the top head.

The room was clean & well organized This was one of the most frustrating stays we’ve ever had, and we travel often. First off, the address provided on Booking.com is NOT the actual check-in location. You have to walk 2-3 minutes to a completely different building just to check in — with your luggage in tow. This is not mentioned anywhere clearly in the listing. Instead, they send a Booking.com “message” a day before your arrival. Sorry, but who is checking messages while in transit or on a flight? This crucial info needs to be on the listing page itself. When we raised this issue with the concierge (after dragging our bags back and forth in an unfamiliar area), she was completely unhelpful. No apology, no empathy — just a defensive attitude. This is not how hospitality works. To make matters worse, the room was an absolute pigeonhole — dark, cramped, and utterly depressing, with zero sunlight. It was barely big enough to turn around in, and definitely not worth the $200+ price tag. The photos are misleading. On top of that, the neighborhood felt sketchy and unsafe, especially when arriving at night. We honestly felt uneasy walking around with our bags.
