Location, heritage- it was a lovely example of gold rush period opulence and the staff were friendly Despite lots of hot water in the hand bacon, we couldn’t get the shower any warmer than tepid, meant for a quick in and out wash not a soak. The carpark usually associated with parking at the shamrock was under repair so it meant we had to find time limited on street parking or walk/drive a number of blokes to find another undercover car park venue.

The room was nice. Situation in CBD Lack of maintenance and entrance need renovation. Parking issues Staff did not offer support to suggest parking areas. Road side parking were only for 2 hrs.

The Hotel Shamrock is absolutely lovely. Very comfortable bed, beautifully renovated bathroom. Rooms are on the older side but that is the expectation with an old historic hotel. Great location, perfect for walking around town. Absolutely love it and would happily stay at The Shamrock again. Carpet in room was old and stained. Parking was unavailable due to car park renovations which is out of the hands of The Shamrock.

Stayed in the Alexander suite ( our grandsons name ) it was beautifully decorated and clean. We loved staying in such an historic building full of history and grandure. We didn't stop for breakfast :( ...... I missed out

Location, comfort, historically beautiful Room had a frosted window which made it feel dark. Also the hot water service and several aircon units outside the window made a loud ongoing hum through the night which kept me awake. Would have been nice to have a real window with a view outside.

Paintwork on walls and ceiling was good. Location was good. Band in Gold Dust cellar was exceptional. Didn't like the easily seen dirt on the stairs to Gold Dust, evident in the foyer. Front doors in poor repair as was the lift. Carpet, particularly on stairs from ground to first floor, worn and in need of thorough clean. "Going Green" as an excuse not to clean rooms is a joke. Shower alcove needed thorough scrubbing with a brush, particularly in the corners. Shower ran out of hot water after 3 minutes in the morning, with no cold water in the mix.
