Affordable stay. Comfortable lodging. Convenient for the coach station. Bonus: it’s the oldest building in Birmingham so you get a bit of history on your pub table. Not a criticism but just want to echo the other reviews: the beer garden is loud until late at night. Nothing.

Great Location, Clean and good value

Great location. Perfect to watch football at St Andrews. Staff was very friendly. Check in was very good. Employee made me feel valued as a customer giving me of information. I loved the history and character of the place. Room was spacious and comfy. Shared bathrooms were fine. Large TV and WIFI worked fine. The noise was bad until well past midnight then very quiet. I am fortunate that loud music outside does not stop me from sleeping. It'd be a nuisance for most people.

Old world charm pub, good price. Very noisy first night. Sounded like a party was going on in one of the other bedrooms.

We loved the history of the old crown, having lived near Birmingham all our lives it's great to explore and stay in a building like this. The room was huge and so comfortable with a huge sleigh style bed. Don't expect mod cons apart from the TV but it's quirky and comfy. The bathroom is modern with a beautiful shower and huge sink. There are only two ensuite rooms I believe, we were in room 8. They also have a lovely pub with a newly added outdoor area . Tea and coffee provided in the room. Right outside are plenty of bars and clubs so can be noisy I imagine but we stayed on a Tuesday so never had that problem. Slightest niggle was the kettle didn't reach from the table so had to be boiled on the floor.

Cozy and clean room, comfortable bed and very friendly staff

The experience was exceptional from the initial stages. Upon my arrival, I was guided around the hotel. The management and team demonstrated exemplary professionalism throughout. The room was absolutely stunning with that rustic feel about it.

Location was great, staff were friendly. Booked the apartment, there was no fridge, no space to sit with friends, other than a bed. No plug in the bath. No duvet.

Staff were amazing and it was perfectly situated around the corner from our appointment the following morning. The location appears to have a busy nightlife and the pavement is covered in glass shards. The Old Crown itself was exceptional and we loved the quirky building.

I've stayed here before with no problems and so the cheap price over the Easter weekend seemed fabulous. We stayed in the same room as last time and the lady/manger? who showed us everything was lovely. There must not have been other guests last time . The walls are paper thin, we heard next door snoring all night, an arguing couple another on the other side and a whole phone conversation. Alarms from people phones going off, the bathroom lock does not represent clearly if vacant or not and it's a flimsy lock so was paranoid using the shower. We asked for some more tea bags as only had two these were not provided. The cleaners seemed pleasant but there was no one present to check out to and it was time consuming to check in. Will not be staying again as feel exhausted

Room spotless really big Room 7. Very atmospheric with old beams sloping floors. We expected pub noise but this was off the scale. Felt like there was a DJ in our room. Wardrobe doors vibrating due to volume of noise. Went on outside till 3pm. Not pub just general area. Window didn't close so let outside noise in. Secondary glazing naff. Freezing cold heating wasn't on. Bed needs replacing can feel springs. Should have stayed another night but left a day early. Staff great just not place for us.

Staff was very friendly. The pub on the ground floor is wonderful and a great variety of beer and food is served. The room was comfortable and the shared room was cleaned everyday.Location was Ok, not far from the city centre ( less than 10 min walk). For those who stay more than two/three days it would be ideal if they could offer the chance to change the linen, towels and rubbish bags.

As a group of six, we would’ve wished for separate beds aa we are both couples but just friends who had to sleep awkwardly in the same beds. There was also no fridge so we couldn’t store leftover food we had bought and all the food that we brought to the apartment just we t bad and we had to throw it in the trash. One of the rooms had no mirror and the TVs had no bolts.
