Checking out THE GRAND HOTEL BRISTOL The name conjures up the glamour of yesteryear, but after the Reception area your dreams of yesteryear will evaporate. There are two lifts but on my visit one was out of order and the other was being used by the Housekeeping staff to move their materials around , so there was a wait for a free spot. I had booked a Premier Executive Room for a bit of indulgence. On opening the door I entered a large, dull, grim room. The furniture looked as though it had come from a junk shop. The walls were painted a drab brown. The décor looked knocked about. There was one small window overlooking a side street and entrance to the car park opposit The lighting was all wall lights that barely illuminated the room. One light by the bed was broken and looked unsafe. To admit more illumination it was necessary to leave the bathroom door open with the light on. There was no wardrobe just some sort of cage with hangers I don’t know when the room was last cleaned but the skirting board and carpet edges were really dusty. Now about the car park. The hotel charge £19 per 24 hours. There is no pro rata charge so I was charged for a full day when I was leaving Bristol. When I queried this on arrival the Receptionist replied that I could leave the car there “all” day. I pointed out that after breakfast I would be leaving Bristol. She made no response. The car park is cramped and judging by the paintwork left on the bends others had found it difficult to manoeuvre My advice would be to avoid this hotel (there are plenty of options in the City) as it does not give value for money and as for parking use a nearby public car park.

Compact Double Room was perfectly adequate for one, good location, comfortable and reasonably priced. Cleanliness was an issue. Generally OK but significant aspects missed. This was raised with staff immediately and was expected to be cleaned by the time I returned. Unfortunately not the case when I arrived back in the early hours.

Location was good Room was so small and not the cleanest. The window and frame was dirt and mouldy. There was no main light so hard to get ready for our night out.

Location Having to ask for replacement towels, toilet roll and tea/coffee/milk multiple times, then having to collect from reception myself.

Location was perfect. Comfortable room and air conditioned The service. During the stay we booked room cleaning and services but it was not done, on top of it when we returned to the hotel in the evening and had to enquire about this, the lady at the reception said "there's no staff". We ran out of toilet rolls and we had to bring it by ourselves from the reception. Please look into these issues more as it is unacceptable.

The room was perfect

staff so good and helpful which made our stay. having parking was very good waterfront area lovely cabot shopping terrible bristol town dirty and so many homeless asking for money every day room very small with terrible outlook. should have asked to move but we had unpacked and were tired driving from cornwall.

Bedroom had untidy undecorated walls that looked damp and dirty. Room was poor compared to our last stay.
