Sasha & Son Hotel

- The staff / receptionist are very warming and friendly. - Once you enter the hotel itself seems you are transported to a different place, a common area with a lot of plants and a tree. - The rooms are designed in an Uzbek traditional way which I’ve loved the most. - There is one morning that I’ve woke up late for breakfast and wasn’t able to eat at their restaurant but the staff called me and offered the breakfast and willing to wait for me at the restaurant. - The hotel is at a very good location, near the Labi Hovuz and easy for the Yandex taxi to locate. - The room is clean and spacious, bonus that it has a fridge and a electric kettle? ( unlike the other hotels I’ve checked in Uzbekistan ). - Only the mattress is not that soft/ comfortable at all, but I’ve managed sleep at all.

Avoid this hotel at all costs. Both my friend and I had cash stolen from our room during our stay — a total of $800. The theft was clearly calculated: they only took half of our cash in each currency (USD, Swiss Francs, Uzbek Som) from three different wallets stored in varied locations to delay our discovery. We were the only guests in the entire hotel that night and were assigned a room on the ground floor right by the entrance. During check-in in the afternoon, we arranged a private car with the hotel for 7:30 the next morning to take us to the Turkmenistan border. This means the staff knew our full itinerary and that we’d be crossing the border — making it impossible for us to return and confront them. Before going to bed, we counted all our cash and clearly remembered the exact amounts in each currency. That night, we were suddenly awakened by a loud, jarring noise. The entire room was pitch black — even the light on the A/C unit had gone off, indicating the power had been cut. Strangely, we felt groggy and almost paralyzed, like we couldn’t fully wake up or move. At the time, we didn’t think much of it. At 7 a.m., we went to the hotel’s restaurant for breakfast and, mistakenly, only brought our phones with us. While we were eating, the hotel staff came to hurry us, saying the driver had arrived. We rushed back to our room to grab our suitcases. The hotel manager — a tall, fluffy man — even came to our room door, craning his neck to peer inside. He had absolutely no sense of personal boundaries and seemed more like he was checking something. About 30 minutes into the drive to the border, we realized our cash was missing. We contacted the hotel immediately, but they refused to check with their staff and insisted the money must have been lost somewhere else or was in another bag. They flat-out denied everything. Very nice staff. Especially the sweet young man serving breakfast. Lovely courtyard and good breakfast. The location is good and walkable to major sites. Highly recommend!

The room was beautiful and atmospheric, the feeling of staying in a beautiful historic home in the backstreets of Old Bukhara while still being steps away from the main sights. My bed could have been comfier and the breakfast could use a little improvement (more fresh fruit, perhaps?)

We had a truly lovely time. Room 6 is very spacious and wonderfully decorated. The young man at the reception was very helpful and the manager very kindly allowed us to check out late (we realize this might not have been possible if the hotel had been super busy but it was not in the middle of the week when we visited). Breakfast had a lot of variety to choose from, one just needs to know that Uzbek breakfast seems to be more on the sweet side, but we got omelettes and cheese and some fresh veggies and were perfectly ok.

I really liked the interior of the rooms, beautiful and authentic. staff are very nice, polite, always helpful. Shaxnoza, a restaurant member was really helpful and shaming. Location of the hotel is perfect, not far from the must visit places. It was some issues with the AC, also wi-fi sometime didn’t work properly. 2 days we were cut out of the electricity(not fault of the staff, the city work), it made a bit problematic to work online for me, but Shaxnoz helped me to solve the problem with sharing her own cellular data.

Absolutely beautiful room in traditional style. Excellent breakfast. Great location in easy walking distance to the main sights. Very quiet. Helpful staff. Would definitely stay again. I felt that the room was too hot, mainly because the weather was unusually hot. I raised it with the staff and they immediately addressed the issue by turning off the radiators.

The location is perfect. You can walk to anyplace in the d town. And there are nice restaurants nearby. The room is very spacious. And nicely decorated. The staff is helpful. No elevator but the staff will help with the suitcase. In the last two days we stayed, there’s smell from the bathroom. Maybe because of the rain. The breakfast is so so.

Everybody is nice and helpful. The front desk team was great .. although we arrived before check in time, they kindly gave us our rooms.. The location is superior.. I highly recommend this hotel to anybody who would like to enjoy their visit in Bukhara The decoration is amazing and the the rooms are spacious. No phones in the rooms

The air conditioning was a bit old and did not work very well. With 35 to 40 degrees Celsius outside in July, it wasn't ideal.

My room. So nice to stay in a non typical IKEA furnished hotel ! Good location! Pictures do not do it justice ! My room faced the courtyard.. you can hear everything..I had to call reception because a group was having a conversation at 10 pm. Voices carry at night. Did not sleep well at night. I should not have to call. Breakfast could be better. The price was higher. The biggest problem was getting a taxi at 4.45 for the 5.30 am train. Reception was very kind to walk outside and flag a drive by taxi. He instructed in Uzeb to drop me off at railway station. Price was doubled for a 20 min ride. 7 minutes later driver stopped taxi and screamed for me to get out in the dark .. nothing around. I cried and pleaded. Finally said Allahu Akbar. He started car again. I did report this to hotel to file a complaint. I sent them picture of his license plate. I received a reply, however, no follow up as to what happened..only mentioning this as no tourist should be treated this way & to avoid early morning train. Noise complaints could be handled in better manner. This is a family run hotel and they are very nice …

Location was really excellent, owner/staff very helpful and available. Room large and very clean with very good bed and strong hot shower. Wonderful courtyard for sitting and relaxing if desired. Breakfast really good! My only complaint is that curtains over glass door to room do not block sun very well; sunrise is very early so the room is quite bright by about about 5:30 am so was difficult to sleep later.

The hotel is in a great location, very close to the main areas of Bukhara but quiet. The decor of the hotel is charming with a nice interior courtyard. The staff tries very hard to help and accommodate requests - from laundry, to directions to dinner reservations. Sasha & Sons is a great boutique hotel in Bukhara. I think the breakfast could have been better.
