The property is quite dated and could use some updates to improve the overall experience. Unfortunately, the breakfast was also disappointing and did not meet expectations.

Overall for the price I paid (900 Rand), it was not bad. Room was clean, had AC and I ultimately slept well. Breakfast was ok. Felt safe. But I wouldn't want to stay here for more than 1 night. Location is decent if you need to be downtown, but not a redeeming place if you are on vacation. But room is very small (there are larger options available I believe) bathroom is right in the room basically(sliding door). No window (it is there ans small but covered in frosted paper so cannot look out. Elevator is slow. Main two issues 1. door in hall leading to stairs have strong springs so they are slamming when people use the stairs. This could be fixed. 2. I booked the Neighbourgood hotel because I thought they have a coworking space, but this one seemingly does not which was disappointing. There is a common area which was okay for some light work, but not a place I would spend the whole day.

Staff were wonderful to adapt and cater to our requests. Location was close to shops/restaurants and easy to navigate and drive around. Room size was an advantage. Aircon was not working in our original room, but staff were able to switch rooms on the next available day. Some of the windows were not entirely 'closable' and heard some street noise.

Nothing Do not stay here. I repeat: DO NOT STAY HERE. This is the worst “hotel” I have ever stayed at. The pictures are extremely deceiving. I was initially placed in a room with visible mold in the bathroom, and the toilet sounded like it was about to come off the wall after just a couple of uses. I didn’t feel comfortable using it at all, and I am not a heavy person. After I complained, they sent a maintenance worker who tried to “fix” the issue by applying silicone and cleaning the mold (which was honestly laughable). Unsurprisingly, this did not solve the problem, and the mold was still clearly visible. I contacted Booking to report that visible mold is unsanitary and a serious health concern. The hotel then moved me to what they claimed was a superior room. Unfortunately, this room was even worse: it was dirtier, had more mold throughout the bathroom, the windows were broken and the air conditioning did not work at all. (See attached photos.) In addition to the dirty and moldy rooms, the hallways and entrance constantly smell musty. After several exhausting days of traveling, I reluctantly accepted this situation — which I deeply regret. Please do not waste your money here and believe the other bad reviews. They honestly should be downgraded to a motel!

Our month at Neighbourgood was so special. The staff welcomed us with open arms and were incredibly kind, generous, and attentive throughout our stay. We arrived to a clean room with a Neighbourgood tote bag, a cookie, and a handwritten note! Incredible value for money -- we got a free upgrade to a deluxe room, early check-in, and late-check out. The kitchen is huge and such a great amenity to have available, although it was rather sparse. It was awesome to have a billiards table in the lounge! The co-working space has floor to ceiling windows - great natural lighting. The water pressure is also fantastic. People warned me about blackouts in Cape Town but we didn't lose power once. The mini-fridge in the room was great although the freezer compartment didn't work well, but it was quite spacious and that was nice (but there are also giant fridges and freezers in the kitchen!) The windows in the room are double-paned and keep out all of the city noise. There were multiple miscommunications regarding which day our room was supposed to be cleaned. The shower clogged easily and would spill into the bathroom because the shower door didn't close all the way - but the two times there was a clog, a maintenance man was sent immediately and it was handled. This site mentions that this location has a gym and a laundry room, but it doesn't. All the positives greatly outshined the negatives. We had an AMAZING stay and truly loved it.
