everything went smooth about our stay starting from check in, to check out The only thing we didn't like was having to pay for parking
-
I stayed there back in 2017 and it was a great property! This stay was just adequate. I think it’s time for the rooms to have a refresh and get rid of the carpet in the rooms since they are a dog friendly property.
-
Shuttle to/from Carlsbad village was great for our group of six - didn’t have to worry about driving or uber. Also supplied beach chairs and umbrellas that you can take to the beach right across the street. Waiter Jake at the bar outside for happy hour was great and loved by all in our group of six

Clean property All good
-
View from my room. It was quiet and we loved chandlers restaurant
-
We would come back again!
-
Charge to much for overnight parking.
-
Had ocean view on first floor.
-
Always happy to go back and visit Cape Rey. Great beach new services, love it! Thank you !
-
We loved our stay there, definitely coming back!
-
Nice location, but the beach there is now pretty eroded.
-
Room temperature was horrible. AC temp control was not working properly. We stayed on the 2nd floor and could hear all the movement from the room above. Hotel is an old build. Did not expect based on the reviews and photos prior to booking.
-
Amazing staff! Very clean rooms.
-
Walking distance to the beach, nice pool that is good for kids, life guard on duty part of the day, and nice fitness room.
-
The fact it was close to the beach The service was inconsistent . It was either really bad or really good. For example, Jared in valet and taking bags was great as was a check-in guy who was blondish with a beard. Our server for lunch Saturday excellent. So were the spa people. The gift shop person was very rude. The shop was closed all the time. The hotel color very drab and depressing. Needs an uplift. The beach was the highlight.
-
The Cape Ray resort was great. Expedia was not good. Don’t be fooled if they put a 3 nights free parking banner on your booking. The hotel does not offer free parking and Expedia won’t honor it either.
-
Property was very nice but restaurant was nice but odd variety of food.
-
Our stay is always comfortable at Cape Rey. We have found that the room attendant and housekeeping is not as attentive on our last couple of visits. We did not get room service two days and had to request it and was difficult to get more pillows.
-
A mediocre business hotel environment pretending to be a beach resort. Rooms have all the grace of a holiday inn express with old air conditioning so load we couldn’t sleep.
-
Didn’t reserve a room for the mobility challenged but received one. Not too big of a deal but the sink space is very limited. I wasn’t asked if this was ok. Didn’t notice until after we unpacked.
