The room.was extremely hot. There was like 4 fans in the room but NO AC. No air flow at all. There were bugs in the room we were but up like 15 times. We spent most of our time out of the room because it was so miserable and hard to sleep. Left super early next day because of how hot it was. Will try again in winter when you don't need AC.

The rooms are large with custom decor, a bit dated but charming. Comfy beds with windows views. Nearly walkable to everything & charming quiet neighborhood.

Many years ago, this used to be our go to place. It was a bed-and-breakfast sweet and quaint. We didn’t realize that it sold. I mean it must’ve sold. It’s no longer a bed-and-breakfast my bad I didn’t double check that. The rooms are so unique and pretty, but Biggest thing is that you need to pay attention before booking there is no AC just window fans. normally the other time of the year that may not be an issue but we were there at the end of July and like other areas around the globe it’s getting warmer.. I strongly advise that they don’t book the Balboa room during that time, It has one window/fan and it actually travels over your head at night which the first night we woke up with sore throats. After 10 AM the room becomes unbearable in that room stifling even we called to find out if we could move to another room thank goodness they had one other room so we moved all our stuff into that. The manager was very accommodating on that thank goodness, otherwise we would’ve had to cancel and find another place. By the way you have a step the last step on one of one of the back steps that needs to be fixed or could be dangerous if someone steps wrong on it and of course be warned about that that you do need to transport your luggage up many steps if you’re young not an issue possibly for some of the rooms. If your older it could be and it is self check in. Unfortunately I think they’re gonna have to invest in ac as areas around the globe are seeming to heat up more.

Clean, close to the beach, nice size room No air conditioning, only fans. It was so hot, lowest the temperature got was 77 degrees overnight and was 87 degrees at 9:00 pm. Bathroom is small, no fan and window faces the neighbors porch so had to keep it closed for privacy.

The location! The person on staff, cleaning staff, the coffee in the reception area with snacks, there was everything you needed available, parking included, rooftop area to have morning coffee, ironing board available, open linen closet to grab an extra item or towel when needed, beach chairs available. No AC, but there were fans.

Our stay at Pelican Cove Inn was fantastic! We stayed in the Santa Barbara room, which was huge: fireplace, walk-in closet, really large bathroom, loveseat couch, big TV, king size four-post bed, vanity, small refrigerator, table and two chairs, plus an arm chair. Also included two complimentary bottles of water, had the requisite hairdryer and mini toiletries. Be aware there is no air conditioning, which is because it's in a really old cute property. There was a window fan that did a good job keeping the room cool, plus a ceiling fan! The property has a lobby with a microwave, snacks, coffee, books to read, paper cups and wine glasses; it's accessible 24 hours a day. I went down at midnight to heat up some leftovers. There's also a utility room that has ice and the maintenance man told me to feel free to go in there anytime if there was anything else I needed. Also available 24 hours. The property also has a roof deck with comfy outside furniture, lovely place to sit to enjoy the weather and a little bit of a view. Each room comes with one parking space. It's totally self check in, there are no humans on site. However when I had a question I texted the person/company who manages the property and got a response in minutes. It's a 7-minute walk to Carlsbad Village, flat and straight. We had as blast having dinner, drinks, and exploring the town, then had a leisurely walk back. Everything was absolutely wonderful! We definitely plan to return. The only problem was there was only one glass glass in the room, should have been two. If we had made cocktails in the room, that would have been a bummer. But obvs just an oversight, not a big deal. It's impossible to add modern a/c to an old historic building, but I would have liked it to be cooler. Next time we just won't stay on the hottest days of the year! But despite that the room was cool enough to be comfortable.

It was clean, quiet, thoughtfully decorated, lots of space with the deck on the roof. They provide beach chairs, toys for the kids, and umbrellas. The office area they have has snacks and coffee. The owners really put love into this place. My girls and I throughly enjoyed our stay. It felt like a home away from home. They even have a guestbook. Will be staying here again!

Loved the room, antiques, and historic atmosphere of the complex. It's in a great location and was very quiet. There are roof top areas in which to hang out. There was plenty of parking. We would enjoy staying there again at a different time of year! Did not love that there was no A/C. Missed that somehow. Times they are a'changin'. The ceiling fan and window fan were helpful, but that little window fan unit needs to be replaced with an A/C for sure. It would be a perfect fit! Temps that day were in the high 80's low 90's and it was 87 degrees F with the ceiling fan on when we arrived (along with the pilot light from the fireplace) and once we turned on the window fan, went down to 78 for overnight...which is still pretty high...for us! No ocean breeze blowing through there. These type of temps are becoming more common but still only occur at certain times of the year. Would love to stay there again when it's not so hot! Also, car charging was once an option, but was broken. Would be a great asset. We had to go elsewhere to charge our hybrid electric vehicle that takes a regular 120v outlet...which turned out to be quite a production!

Location No AC!!!! It was hot!!! Even the two fans provided didn’t cool it down. We would not stay here again.

Location to beach only few blocks away, room design very cute, beds comfortable, walked to beach and village, enjoyed coffee on rooftop. Lobby had snacks , coffee/ tea, wine glasses. Refrigerator in room. Huge spa tub. Outdoor shower to wash sand off before going in room Had missing remote for ceiling fan but did have window fan and another fan , so kept cool. Keyless entry to room was kindve hard to use, and entry code for utility room never worked.

walking distance to downtown carlsbad and to the beach. quiet and comfortable. Had to watch out when using the hot water in the bathroom. Very hot!

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

The property was amazing and well taken care of. So many lovely places to sit and relax. Perfect distance from the beach to catch a nice breeze at night. Not much traffic on the streets either it’s very quiet. It dose get pretty hot during the day, but if you’re out most of the day it’s not an issue.

No place to hang up clothing

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

I liked the location and the hotel was very cute. The fan wasn't connected to the ceiling all the way and it banged all night, the shower head had so much calcium buildup it was gross, there were ants in the bathroom, and no full length mirror.

    Absolutely WONDERFUL!!!! Besitos. ;-)

Very comfortable and close to the beach TV was small

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

Very cute and quaint old house, well located close to the beach and to a lot of restaurants. Amenities are modern. Well worth the price considering the rates at nearby locations. No staff on site, but available by phone, so was not a problem in the end. No air conditioning but we didn't need one.

Young man very unhelpful. Made us directly aware you would have to get own linens.
