Antico Mercato was right in the heart of catania, perfect for a short low budget stay!

Guests should be prepared for the fact that this is a 4+1 apartment with a shared hallway and entrance to separate small rooms. Frightened neighbors thought we were breaking into their accommodation before they realized that this is a shared apartment. Unfortunately, our room didn’t even have a handle, but rather a sliding 'door,' so we could hear everything happening in the shared hallway. The bathroom had a dirty toilet, mold around the window and on the ceiling, and a really strong sewage smell that the owners tried to mask with scented decorations. In the bathroom, one of the two lights didn’t work either. The official photos are taken with strong lighting, which distorts reality. The building in which the apartment is located is already full of used tissues and cigarette butts at the entrance. We had ants in the bed, and there were visible stains on the bedspread. Really a big disappointment. The advantage of the accommodation is really the great location and the local markets within reach. The Italian breakfast in the café was really nice.

There is nothing to complain about
-
Just the location.. street was too loud - heard super loud party music coming from the bar all the night
-
Bathroom has a small plastic shower. Shared space with other guests. No parking on street.
-
Nothing, i liked everything.

The building is old and there was a sewery smell in the room. We didn't mind since we were spending only nights in our room, and our needs were met, but if you are sensitive to odors, it would be wise to skip this one.

Good bed, TV, shower. Very clean. Nice people. Breakfast at cafe very good big plus!
-
At night it was a bit noisy, because of a bar with loud music nearby, but the music was not that bad. :)

For the purpose of my stay was ok. I only stayed one night, as I was with my boyfriend I felt just fine. The view of the Etna was beautiful, and there’s a giant market outside worth to explore. But I wouldn’t feel totally safe as a woman going out by myself at night.
-
Nice room right in the heart of Catania, surrounded by restaurants, shops, supermarkets, and bars. The space is spotless, with very clean bedsheets.

The toilet could be a little more modern
-
The location There were a lot of ants and there’s a lot of noise in the facilities

Location is very interesting. It's noisy because you're just above the daily fair, but it's kind of the point, you're right in the middle of it. You're also near Via Etnea and 10min from everywhere you might want to visit in Catania. Room was clean, big bathroom and cool balcony with a drying rack! Building entrance can be a bit sketchy.

The two men who run this place don’t speak any English, however their kindness still shone through. They were so helpful and accommodating making sure we were safe and had everything we needed. We accidentally broke something and they were so kind in ensuring us it was okay and making sure we were alright. The full communal kitchen is great for cooking as well!

Even though we didnt get our favourite room, we were still impressed by the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to go the extra mile. The location and surrounding facilities were excelent. We will be revisiting again very soon. Nothing, everything was great.

Very poor

Really nice owner, helped us get back the thing we accidentally lost. Check in really easy. Its a bit cold in the room, but thats okay.

Great value for money. Excellent location, quite authentic Milan-level house itself (entrance, elevator front door). Nice enough room with balcony. A big request to replace the shower and plumbing to prevent leaks and improve functionality, which would also help optimize the maid’s work. If possible, please ensure the bidet is operational. Additionally, address the issue of the air conditioner dripping onto the balcony. Clearer information regarding the heater batteries would be helpful—specifically, when each one is supposed to function. The bathroom heater worked only on the first day, while the room heater didn’t work on the last. Thank you!

Very close to the city centre and main attractions. Clean and cosy. nice balcony. We had self check in so staff informed us what to do via booking. Close to main streets which seem to be safe. Overall worth visiting again! In the morning when market on the street starts it's quite loud, in our room there was a door to the other room where someone was snoring pretty loud :D but it wasn't so bad.
