Outstanding property. Any negative note would be the small bathroom.
-
Charming, easy, and great location. Highly recommended.
-
Staff was friendly and helpful, restaurant and bar were tasty and convenient. Excellent location and very walkable to shopping, restaurants, and bars.
-
Room was clean, and ready very early! Staff was nice, and the hotel looked beautiful! Also located near a lot of restaurants and things to do!
-
Clean room, staff was nice, coffee was good!
-
The staff has always been amazing and the location is perfect in the downtown district. We reduce the stars because the noise levels are not great for sleeping. If the could figure out how to reduce room to room and hallway noise it would be 5stars all day
-
Excellent from the doorman to restaurant staff to front desk. The room cleaner was awesome and very polite. Checked on us each day and provided any extra items we may needed in our extended stay.
-
Great location - at King street one the the best boutique shopping streets incuding restaurants and even a target and then the battery and beautiful houses.Excellent restaurant in hotel breakfast lunch and dinner!

The location Rooms were old smelt a little musty

While this hotel boasts a fantastic central location in historic Charleston and a polite staff, our room fell far short of expectations for the price. Despite the grand lobby and exterior, the room's infrastructure is severely outdated and poorly maintained. Upon arrival, we found a heavily stained toilet. The shower faucet turned endlessly before turning on, and the wall fixtures surrounding it were loose. For a family of four, we were provided only a single tiny bar of soap. Which hotels still offer bar soap in 2026 for the shower? Additionally, several wall outlets were non-functional and the floor lamp required two extension cords to reach one of the few outlets. Do not be misled by the photos; the actual accommodations do not match the grand facade.

Great location- very friendly staff!

Location was great! Hotel was beautiful
-
Cannot beat the location. Staff very helpful and attentive - charming hotel.
-
Wish they had a pool, otherwise it’s a great place. The Swamp Fox on site restaurant is far better than average.
-
Bathroom small, but adequate. Location great. Nothing considering the historic preservation of the rooms and the rest of the facility.
-
Terrific view but needs remodeling
-
Charming, historic hotel. Perfect for visiting College of Charleston families! Right in the middle of everything. Like many historic properties, the rooms are not bland or cookie-cutter boring. We will be using this hotel plenty while our child is attending C of C.

Great

Great location ! Staff was helpful. Room was spacious.

The lobby is beautiful and we did not have a chance to use the spa or the restaurant but hallways and elevators needed renovations or a deep cleaning at least. This is not an inexpensive hotel and we did not book one of their most expensive rooms. The location is excellent right on king street and the valet and doorman were very wonderful, friendly and helpful. This is a beautiful historic hotel. We love staying in these and truly hope changes are made to bring it up to the standards it deserves.
