Very nice lobby and bar. Rooms are a little older. They were not cleaned when I stayed. Staff is very helpful. Breakfast is very expensive if you do not have a voucher. Great location/quiet and near lake and restaurants.

It’s not at all like it used to be since the Chicago hotel group took it over. They no longer answer the phone. You have to text them and usually it takes them a long time to answer, if they do it all they no longer claim the rooms once you check in it’ll be three days before they clean a room you need to call if you need towels or anything. You cannot call the front desk. You have to text somebody and hope that they text you back in a timely fashion… Which never happened

The rooms were very outdated. It looked like things were just painted over several times and cheaply fixed. Looked like the “landlord special” Stains on our sheets prior to ever using them. The bathroom was pretty dirty looking. The hallways were gross and all of the carpets were stained up. Breakfast was held in a not very nice room on the second floor. We’re not very picky in the slightest but for the price this hotel was just not very nice.

Location Location Location. This Hotel is NOT a 4 star hotel. Someone should revoke that status. Great room rates for the area. No room service, food a lobby restaurant wasn’t good. The carpeting in our room is due for a change out. Overall pleasant stay in this old hotel.

I was told there was coffee in the library and I found a single coffee maker with no water, paper cups and no staff anywhere to assist. The room was messy from the night before and there was food crumbs in the chairs. I was finally to check in several hours later thanks to a lovely women who arrived in the next shift. She was very pleasant and helpful. I needed to use the restroom - there is only 1 in the hotel. When I tried to enter, I was told by a cleaning rep that there was a problem and an engineer would be in to work on it in a minute or so. I asked if there were other restrooms and she said, yes, in your room. I pointed out that I was not able to check in to my room yet and she was very dismissive. The room was fine and the restaurant brunch was ok.

The staff were amazing, as well the location. Breakfast buffet in the morning was definitely above average out of the hotel breakfast we've had in the past. The room was very old and outdated. The carpet was old and had several stains. I would stay again if I had too. But for the price....I would definitely look around first even with the positives of this hotel.

Checking in was a breeze. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Love the complimentary gifts, drink and dinner coupons. What made it even better the area.

This was formerly the Ambassador East Hotel and the lobby and hallways are still an elegant reflection of that era. The restaurant once the famed Pump Room is now the Ambassador Room with a nod to the famous booths now with a modern take. The rooms however are sleekly modern with furniture placement that creates a feeling of spaciousness. While there are a few small signs of wear and tear, they do not interfere with the room's comfort. If you book this hotel, make sure your get the "Extras" Package. It costs $8-9 and is worth it. A Breakfast Buffet that is excellent. Drink and dinner vouchers and based on availability early check in (we were able to check in at noon) and late check out are included. We will definitely be staying here again.

The location and decor in the lobby and restaurant/ lounge was super nice! The beds were comfortable and room was spacious. The only issue that I saw was the carpet in the room. There were several stains and bleach spots. It needs to be replaced. Other than that small detail it was a really nice stay!

Great and beautiful hotel in the heart of Chicago. Fantastic and super fun bar.

The Ambassador Gold Coast was our first hotel stay as we embarked on an AmTrak Rail Pass trek across the country and back, and they set the bar very high! The staff was very helpful, the room was large with a big window, very clean, great bed, and nice bathroom. The buffet breakfast (included) was the BEST of the entire month-long trip! Everything imaginable, in a lovely comfortable dining room. Also, we were welcomed with free drink tickets at the bar, and an h'or d'oeuvre ticket that we didn't have time to use! We loved the Gold Coast neighborhood, felt very safe there, and this hotel remained an absolute favorite for the remainder of our trip. Thanks for getting us off to a great start on the trip of a lifetime! We hope to stay there again, and will recommend it to anyone traveling to Chicago!

I loved everything about this hotel it was very beautiful the staff were super friendly only thing i was not happy with was my room.. The room i was given was very outdated, the carpet had bleach stains everywhere, the walls looked like they were gonna cave in, there was paint chipping everywhere, the bathroom hot water took a long time to work, the bathroom floor looked like someone painted over it. the room looked like it did not belong in that hotel.. I was pleased with the hotel but not pleased with my room..

We booked two rooms for two nights through Expedia and arrived expecting a clean and comfortable stay. Within about 10 minutes of entering the rooms, we discovered multiple issues. The rooms were dirty, the bed sheets had rips in them, the sink was cracked, and the air conditioning was not working properly. Since we were traveling with our 3-year-old daughter, cleanliness and comfort were especially important to us. After seeing the condition of the rooms, we immediately went back to the front desk and requested a refund. We even took pictures of all the problems and showed them to the staff and the general manager. We invited the manager to come inspect the rooms himself, but instead of helping resolve the situation, he was rude and dismissive. Despite leaving almost immediately and not staying at the hotel, our refund request was denied. We felt we had no choice but to leave and book another hotel for our family. This was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we’ve ever had. Poor room conditions, lack of customer service, and refusal to address legitimate concerns made this a very frustrating experience. Avoid this property if cleanliness, customer service, and guest satisfaction are important to you.

Amenities were only as paid prior- No towels were given until asked- room wasn’t cleaned the entire weekend, trash wasn’t emptied one time our entire stay
