Reviews

The Thompson was excellent and have no complaints. Unfortunately, during our stay one elevator was completely out of service. They only have 2 elevators to service the whole hotel. The hotel fully booked and very busy. It was an inconvenience. Other than that, it was excellent.

We had a great stay!
-
There are two elevators in the lobby. One was out of service, which seems to be a common occurrence there. It made the wait to get to or from your room difficult.
-
The staff… why are they so rude?! Not helpful and arrogant. Despite the room was very comfortable, clean and convenient, the service needs to put a lot of effort to improve. All staff members were gross starting from valet, check-in and room service.
-
Broken elevator causing long lines and delays. Coffee set up in the lobby was awkward and $4 for a cup. Friends found bed bug in their bed. Staff very nice and good location.
-
1. The coffee in the room is just a small cup of espresso for 2. 2. No coffee bar in the lobby or any place at all to grab a large cup and take back to the room. 3. The lobby and public areas are so over air conditioned one has to wear a jacket in the heat of summer. This goes for the casual restaurant on the ground floor. When we could we ate outside. 4. The gym is nice but has minimal equipment even though there is room for a few machines. When I return to Chicago I’ll probably try a different hotel but I wouldn’t be opposed to staying at the Thompson again.

Nice hotel, staff and clean room. Great location

This is our new favorite hotel. Highly recommend, close to everything!
-
Great hotel, friendly staff and awesome location. I felt like we were in the middle of a fun interaction, lots of restaurants and shops.
-
The only gliche was there was no refrigerator or microwave in the room, but a phone call provided both. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful as well. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Chicago, as it is located in an excellent location, close to many restaurants and close to downtown.

Location and customer service was excellent

I absolutely enjoyed/loved my stay at the Thompson! I visited for my birthday and Ahmad made sure everything was perfect. I stayed in the penthouse and upon arrival I had a chilled bottle of white wine and delicious dessert waiting. 10/10 Thank you for assisting in a very memorable birthday celebration!

We have stayed multiple times at this hotel and have been very happy with our visits here. Great hotel, great staff and excellent location.
-
Hotel was fine. Location is very good within Gold Coast with plenty of dining / stores. Overall the hotel is below average from what I would expect from a 4 star hotel or of this price. No coffee or water in lobby. Towels were very low quality. Didn’t have a bad experience but would not stay again.

Kind staff

The hotel was fine, but it didn’t feel special or as nice as I would have expected from a Thompson Hotel. It felt more like a one off boutique style hotel that just phoned it in. It was missing the little details that make a hotel feel more upscale. The bed wasn’t very comfortable, the a/c didn’t seem to work right, the room and bathroom felt generic in design and was lacking any sort of character. The location was great, but I wouldn’t stay here again with so many other good options nearby.
