Hotel Casa Colonia

Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Better than expected. A few too many technologies involved with booking.com, messages, QR code, hotel website/webapp. Would not be good for an overseas visitor without a mobile phone all setup and fully functioning.

There are mosquitoes in the backyard, if you choose to enjoy your breakfast outside. We asked for the early check-in due to our early arrival by train. The initial conversation from the hotel can be computer generated and confusing due to its part time reception desk (until 3pm). Once we arrived at the hotel, we understood the situation and we were accommodated and it was totally fine with us.

The room was super comfortable and the breakfast really good. The elevator works great and the WiFi was fast. There wasn’t really anything else you could ask for. As others have said, the initial entrance where you have to use the web app could be tricky if you dont have internet on your phone.

This hotel met my expectations for a standard 3-star property in Western Europe. Both the bedroom and bathroom were relatively spacious, even for the “Small” room type. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I arrived about an hour before check-in, and they kindly prepared the room early (I had messaged the hotel via Booking.com the day before, and while they said they could not guarantee it, they did their best). The location is convenient — just a 5-minute walk from the Main Train Station on a quiet and safe street — though it is in the opposite direction from the Cathedral and other attractions. Breakfast was a highlight, exceeding typical 3-star standards. I especially appreciated the freshly prepared coffee drinks (cappuccino, latte, etc.) and the hot food options, including eggs and meatballs, since many similar hotels only offer a basic continental spread. Their homemade berry juice was excellent — I had it both mornings! The room could use additional shelf space, and the bathroom could benefit from more counter space. One of the towels had a small but noticeable stain, which I didn’t like, though I didn’t bother requesting a replacement as my stay was short. The Wi-Fi was also less stable than in other hotels, and I had to switch to mobile data for 5-10 minutes one evening.

I really liked the location and the cleanliness of the room. The breakfast was also very good, and the staff serving breakfast was excellent. I didn’t like the self check in approach. I had been driving and traveling prior to arriving and didn’t have a chance to read my emails. The check in required multiple steps from an email sent just before arrival. Perhaps they should warn guests ahead of time to expect an email with instructions for self-check in.
