Excellent friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was fantastic—huge selection to suit all tastes, and service was very good. Bed was large and comfortable. Location a few steps from the station couldn’t be more convenient. Nice restaurants nearby, too. Short walk to the Rhine and the old town. Bathroom was tiny—but it was clean and the shower was powerful.

Convenient location a close walk from train station and the Cathedral. Hotel is basic and rooms are small, but comfortable. Breakfast was provided and was wonderful!

It's so centerally located. The staff was kind and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. I loved the breakfast, so delicious. There is only one thing that bothered me. The bathroom is not located in the room. To use the bathroom, you have to exit your room.

Building itself is not guest friendly

Rooms were a little small but ok.

The rate for a quite small single room was quite high. (Just by comparison, for 30% less I got a room in a 4-star hotel in the center of Paris the next day). Probably I just visited in the "wrong" weekend with some large event, as there was little choice in Cologne and prices were all very high.

Clean room and good wifi. Misleading practice. Room located at the noisiest part of the hotel. Do not book their single room or you will be waken up by noise at 6 am. They gave me a room that is connected to the breakfast room, with two breakfast tables against the wall of my room, one on each side of my door. I was concerned when seeing this and asked about breakfast hours. The front desk lied and said it would not start till 9 am. But it starts at 6am. If I had known this, I would have upgraded to a double room as there was no other single room available at the time.

Lack of aircon prevents the comfort score from being higher. Free wifi was fast, no problems, but not clear how secure it is.

Property was very clean, staff were very friendly and helpfull. Location is perfect, all popular places is 5min walking distance There was no refrigirator in the room

The location was excellent. The food and service was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we could get our laundry done. The shower was difficult to climb into and use.

The staff at Hotel Domspitzen is very hospitable and service oriented. It's a beautiful hotel that is nicely decorated. Warm and cozy, a wonderful home away from home! The breakfast was spectacular, with a large variety of options including German breakfast, cold cuts, cheeses, breads, yogurt, and many different kinds of toppings. Best of all, they cooked your eggs to order: omelettes, scrambled, or fried. There was also a selection of different ingredients. Plus there were numerous sweet treats, including cookies, desserts, chocolates and candy. I ate there 4 times and didn't get tired of it! Highly recommend you book breakfast with your room. The location is super convenient, only a few blocks away from the Cologne Central Station. It's on the less busy side, thus in a quiet neighborhood. I really didn't look to see what was available close by, as once I ate breakfast I headed out for the day. Also, you can hear the trains passing, though I really need to listen for them (quiet hum) so this didn't bother me at all. Just a few notes: Upon check-in, you could select one of three time slots for breakfast: 7-8 am 8-9 am or 9-10 am. I chose the later time slot and there was always plenty of food to select from. I stayed in a single room, which was small but had everything I needed. The bed was comfortable and the shower nice and hot! They use a digital key system, which once I got used to It, was actually really convenient. Nothing, everything was fabulous.

Tv was broken. Heat in bathroom didn't work. Very dated.

Lovely room. Quiet. Great breakfast you can buy when you get here for 18€. Very central. Walking to chocolate factory this morning. Walked to Christmas market last night. Cathedral is spectacular!! Shower head wouldn’t stay in holder.

The hotel was close to the train station and cathedral. From the description and photos, I believed the room was an apartment with a separate bedroom and kitchen. It was basically a hotel room with a small refrigerator, sink and cooktop in a corner. The location was convenient, but felt unsafe at night.

Great breakfast with hot egg dishes. Very close to train station and Koln Cathedral. Short walk to downtown area. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff, even one not on duty helped me out with an issue! Room lighting was too dim for me. No overhead light, 3 small dim lamps. Need some bright standing lamps.

The hotel was even closer to the station (and even more so the Bresslauer Platz metro) than expected. The beds were great, the breakfast buffet was as good as advertised, and not only is the personnel great, the hotel is small enough that they get to know you after a few days. Unlike most hotels it's actually worth walking up the stairs even if it's not where your room is, just to see the hallway decorations and the view from the top floor. The soundproofing with windows closed is more than sufficient to keep train and city noises out. First, for me, in september, it's not a problem at all, but the lack of airconditioning will likely make July and August poor choices. There's no laptop-sized locker, only a small lockable drawer, although the default policy of not doing housekeeping (great anyway so stuff stays where you left it) somewhat alleviates the issue. The late check in system can be confusing for some guests. The website is good at explaining it, but I saw people who came unprepared struggle on my second day. I suggested the staff put a link to the instructions to the front door to assist with that. Other than that, rooms vary a lot because it's an old building. So keep an eye on the photos and the type.
