I was recommended this hotel by my airport taxi driver - and I am glad that I heeded his advice. I saw some bad reviews for this hotel, so I was hesistant, but I was delighted. The room was good - clean and comfortable; a little small but that's not a problem. The breakfast was the best in Tanzania - many options to choose and you can take as much as you'd like. The restaurant was on a 1st floor, so you can watch the traffic go by as you have your meal. My room was on the 4th floor; it was very peaceful being high above the traffic. I was able to walk up to the very top of the building, where you can get a good panoramic view of the city (11th floor I think) Hotel manager helped me carry my bag to the room. The loation is good, as it's near to everything, such as banks, shops, tourist attractions. During check-in, I had to sit and wait in the lobby for a long time, for no specified reason. I wish that the plug socket that is adjacent to the bed, was not directly up against the mattress, as it was hard to access it.

All went well. The staff was helpful and respectful They changed the rates I booked online to newer booking rates. Their prices went up and I didn't pay what we agreed online

Locatie was ok The rate they use to pay ,when you book on booking. com you give us the price in dollars but you can not pay in advance there they ask dollars to pay for the reservation when you don’t have dollars you need to pay in shillings because the terminal to pay only accepts shillings they give you a rate which is not correct

Friendly staff Same breakfast everyday. No variety of things. Poor wifi network. Blankets are dirty and over recycled, past their lifetime. TV is boring, the selection of channels is not good.

Nothing 1. Booking.com displays WRONG contact no of hotel. Apni you dial given no you will end up somewhere else. Booking.Com would give correct phone number. Hotel staff & receptionist behaviour was bad. She is not at all cooperative. I told her I have booking through booking.com and showed the screenshot. Receptionist saw the contact number and told this no don't belong to Durban Hotel so I don't have booking here and I should go somewhere else. I pleaded her to see her computer system for my booking but she was furious and didn't check her system. It was 30 minutes in just arguing over counter. Then finally one staff got mercy on me and he called someone then that unknown person told receptionist to check my booking in system, and at least she allowed me to check in after 30 minutes struggle. Next trouble was I told her to take payment by credit card or us dollars or other foreign currency but she said she will take only Tanzania shilling. I requested her that let me stay at night and tomorrow morning I will go to change forex but she became adamant and made me to go search some currency exchange bank/beaureau in night and luckily hotel guard found one for me then I exchanged and paid in night at 9 pm then she allowed me to stay 2. Room was too compact for the price asked(tariff) 3. Hotel's location as displayed in booking.com website is wrong. It is very very hard to find if you follow booking.com. instead google map search gives accurate location.
