The staff was very helpful and friendly. We had issues checking in, but they were more than helpful. The issue was our room. The air did not work great. It was set at 50 degrees but wouldn’t go less than 72 degrees. After a shower there was a lot of steam. We set off the fire alarm in our room if the bathroom door was left open during or after a shower. On the last days, unfortunately, we saw a black substance next to the air vent. Which we assume was mold.

We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant, and it was delicious! I thought my room came with the buffet breakfast, and in the morning the ladies in the restaurant told me it did not, but they would give it to me anyway. We stayed two days and got the buffet both mornings. It was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had in a hotel. The staff was very nice and always present behind the counter. The issue with the property was that the parking lot was totally closed for resurfacing, and a bit torn up. My group had 2 disabled people (I was one), and it was a long walk from the temporary parking lot across the street from the front of the hotel. I believe the hotel was full because this was state fair opening weekend. It was very hard to find a parking spot, we had to circle 3 times. I don’t think the lot was big enough. Even to drop someone off on either side street was quite a walk for me. Had we known this, we likely would have not stayed there. Very bad timing for such a project. But I liked the hotel very much and the restaurant was excellent.

Very clean property, staff was very nice and pleasant. A bit out dated property and thin walls but would stay here again!

The fire alarm went off twice and we had to park across the street because the parking lot was falling in

The air conditioning in our room did not work, it was hot all night. We let the staff know, and they didn’t do anything else about it.

Black mold in our room. Hotel staff said thank you and did nothing to eesolve it

Cold lobby, cold room!!! 😊👌and Aldin(?) At the front desk was awesome! Huge upgrade from a hotel originally booked that didn't have close parking closed lot had to drag ALL my stuff clear across from a secondary parking lot a 2 lane road and the " closed" parking lot to enter a hotel lobby and eventually a hotel room that were hot. Due to air issues and the manager got snippy and told me I should have checked the website for updates/ air issues parking lot etc. As far as Im concerned a voutesy call or text should have been sent to assess the customer of the issues that were going to lead to a sub par stay...not make it about the customer and what else they should do. And then offering NO discount ir anything to make up fit the situation NOTHING! So NY stay at the Springhill Bonvoy was very much a destination that changed my trip. And I was very happy Expedia gave me a room upgrade as well. Breakfast provided was adequate and had good selection.

Good overall.

Front Desk receptionist and the front desk staff were very unprofessional in regards to just laughing about their own conversations and just let us stand there to check in. Whenever we finally did get some assistance the on duty manager was extremely rude and condescending. There was no parking at all had to park across the street in a completely different business parking lot and hoped that we wouldn't get either towed, or our vehicle broke into. Would not recommend this property.

Was not to happy that the parking lot for the motel it self had been closed and had to park in other lots

GREAT STAFF! This hotel is close to everything and the Iowa State Fair. Which we went to this past weekend. The hotel is clean, has a bar, pool, free parking and clean rooms. We did run into an issue out of the hotels control and the front desk staffed was quick to help us. They solved our problem and even upgraded us! Very impressed by this and probably the best service I’ve gotten at a hotel in a while. The parking is closed, but there’s two free parking lots across the street. It’s not an issue and people should stop complaining about it in the reviews because there’s barely more walking to get into the hotel. The lots had plenty of parking, were hospital owned, lit and had emergency stations. Very safe. The hotel was clean, smelled good and the elevators were even really fast. Highly suggest and will be back. It is loud on the interstate side, I would ask for a room on the parking lot side.

The room was big enough for us; it had a microwave and a refrigerator. The bed was very comfortable, and the pillows were soft. We would stay again.

I’d make it sound more like you’re describing your actual frustration rather than writing a formal complaint: Let’s be honest—the staff working here are super friendly and helpful, and I really do appreciate them. The room was also clean. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about how the property itself is being maintained. The first thing that surprised me was that you can’t even drive up to the front entrance. The whole front area has apparently been under maintenance for a while, so we had to park across the street and haul all our luggage through the fenced-off parking lot just to get inside. Traveling with luggage is already enough work, and I really don’t remember seeing any warning about this when I booked. What bothered me even more was the 10th-floor Sky Lounge. It’s advertised as one of the hotel’s amenities, but apparently it hasn’t been open for years. Years! At that point, why is it still being advertised on the website? That honestly feels like false advertising. Inside, you can see more signs that the property just isn’t being taken care of—the ice machine was broken, the TV was surprisingly tiny, and little things here and there make the hotel feel neglected. I actually feel bad giving a negative review because the staff themselves were wonderful and the room was clean. But whoever owns or manages this property really needs to put some money back into it. The employees are doing their part; the property itself is being run into the ground

Parking lot was not open so only parking across the street. Was inconvenient especially with the heavy rain during my trip. Had to be picked up on side of road. Room smelled like smoke although it was a non smoking room. Pictures of the outside do not match reality. Outside is old but inside is well maintained. Location was ideal but would not probably book again.

Parking lot was closed so had to park in a separate lot but otherwise it was a good experience

Could use an update

Exceptional
-
Hotel was ok but it is an old hotel that has been updated. Worst part was the parking deck was closed, too old to be safe.
