Baymont by Wyndham Duluth/Spirit Mountain

We stayed there from June 26-28 for a baseball tournament and it was very disappointing, to say the least. For starters the price of $280 US per night is outrageous, especially with a serious lack of basics!! The staff at the desk notified us that there would be no turn over service for towels, beds or garbage due to being short staffed and we could just leave things outside the door or come and get towels from the front desk. Next, they said the pool heater was broken and the pool would be cold but they didn’t mention that it was also dirty!! Then we had ordered a cot, at check in they let us know they don’t have them anymore and gave us an air mattress. This would have been a fine option if they held air, our son woke up in the middle of the night, flat on the floor and had to climb in with us, not ideal for a teenage boy. They gave us a replacement and that air mattress was absolutely no better. The hotel is very dated, the 2nd floor smells like fish and most of the showers are good for people 5ft and under. The only decent thing about the hotel was the continental breakfast. I would recommend this place to nobody!!

Would not recommend, wifi was not working, pool heater was broken so it was ice cold, paper thin floor / ceiling, could hear foot steps and jumping in the unit above us. Older building. For the cost per night we should have stayed elsewhere.

The plus side was the continental breakfast was good and beds were comfortable. But we were overall unsatisfied and will likely look at other hotels for our next Duluth stay.

Small but clean room. Place is ok

We had a car accident Thursday night. Our car has to be repaired and we had to wait for a family member to pick us up. 0We were told by front desk personnel we could have the room until 1:00 at no extra cost. Wonderful 👏 👏!!

The motel is not handicapped accessible as it was grandfathered in when the company was bought out. The toilets in the room are extremely low with no handles for assistance. Lots of stairs to get to registration. No elevator. Dark hallways. You can hear the highway noise very clearly.

Room was too close to swimming pool area . Could hear all noise from people there. Breakfast was limited.

The visit was fine. I would prefer a better breakfast experience. The dining area is very small and stuffy. One microwavable breakfast sandwich per guest per day. Very limited. The place itself is a little older. Of course the price is pretty good and it was quiet and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful.

That I had a place to stay. Only positive I have. They didn't have my booking, the price was higher, and they did not give me an option to stay the 2nd night, that I had booked.

Great service, they were extremely polite. Clean and great. Breakfast and breakfast area.

Really good location and did not hurry us to leave the place on the day we left, is difficult to be super punctual when you have a toddler

We checked in late for a visit to UMD. It was fogging and we were relieved to get off the freeway. When we entered our room it reaked of marijuana I went to open the bathroom door and there was a dirty used tampon in the middle of the floor. It took forever to get someone to assist with my checkout. We went into Duluth to stay. When Travelocity reached out to get approval for the refund the manager stated that it wasn’t there before I checked in and there was nothing they were going to do about it. I was staying with my son and I don’t get get my period so pretty sure it was impossible to be us. Still worth the $130 not to stay at this hotel. If that’s what’s on the bathroom floor who knows what’s in the beds!

But the property is quirky. It's an older building - the floors are slightly uneven, and one of the tiles in the entryway to our room was cracked. The building is built into the side of a hill. There's no elevator. The front desk / lobby is tiny. You have to navigate steps down from the parking lot into the property. The pool was cold and showing its age. But we got a good night sleep, enjoyed the TV in our room, and then were on our way to visit Spirit Mountain Adventure Park the next morning, which was only a few minutes away. So it did the trick. In general, in the future, I would avoid Duluth entirely - it seems like the hotels are extremely expensive in this area for no reason.
