Nice change of pace

Cute/unique historical property within walking distance of canal park. Close to the lake and beach. Parking was included and easy. Great windows, lots of light and no road noise despite being close to the road. Fire pit on the patio overlooking the lake was great. Check in was easy and staff was friendly.

Beautiful location and unique historic building

Have not been this disappointed in a room ever. Stayed in #3.Dont stay there! Nothing g at all was "boutique" or "luxury". It was dirty beyond belief, the bed was a steel frame off the floor, nothing else, the furnishings were just old, decrepit.

Room 5 is upstairs and is reached by a very narrow, steep staircase. There is no elevator, and this was not mentioned anywhere on the Expedia listing. We had great difficulty carrying our luggage up the stairs. Had I known about these stairs, I would not have booked the room. The balcony also has a surprisingly large step up to it. The bed is extremely low, which also made getting up difficult. The refrigerator is tiny and the air conditioning struggled to keep the room cool. The property is virtually unstaffed and access is by door codes, so make sure you have them saved before arriving. Overall, a cute place in a fantastic location, but Room 5 is absolutely not a good choice for anyone with mobility, knee or back problems. The steep stair-only access in particular really needs to be clearly disclosed when booking.

The location is next to the interstate which seemed to be a drag strip late into the hours of night. Also, there is a walkway to the lakewalk next-door that many homeless people were on. There is a park directly in front with picnic tables and a lot of homeless people were sitting there drinking all day. Also with a public parking lot next to it, all three nights of our stay somebody was pulling in there with their stereo cranked and extremely loud bass coming from the vehicle. It is a cute place, but I would not stay there again because of the noise factor and if you like to sleep in, you cannot do that unless you bring an eye mask because there are no window coverings on the top windows.

I really enjoyed staying here. It was a very nicely renovated place made into a nice place to staff. The room was very clean and comfortable. The code to get in worked good. They had a parking space designated for your stay that saves you money with parking.

Amazing all around! Perfect location. Clean. The easiest check in. We stayed in the Superior Suite. We didn't want to leave! We will be back! I have no complaints.

Such an awesome place!! Very dog friendly and a great location to explore Canal Park. We will absolutely stay again!!

What we didn't like had nothing to do with the lodging itself. It was with the 3rd party we booked with. They screwed up our reservation. Put us down as 1 guest when there was 3 of us. So we got the room with 1 queen bed. Too late to switch by the time we found out, the place was full. No refund cancelation policy if we canceled. So we made due.

The rooms themselves are very cute and nicely decorated. It was overall pretty clean, just some extra bugs in the fold out couch that my daughter had to sleep on. I was disappointed that the fold out couch itself was the width of a twin bed; so my son slept on the floor. I had indicated 4 guests. There were extra sheets and blankets provided, but only for the couch. Luckily, we had our own. The air also did not keep up; luckily its Duluth so as long as we kept our windows open there was a nice breeze for sleeping at night. Just the first night when we arrived it took quite a while to cool down. There was an issue with the check-in text I was supposed to receive- it didn't load correctly or something, so I had to call anyway. Overall I love the property and the whole set up; the location is unmatched; and the free parking included is a HUGE bonus for Canal Park. They obviously had a lot of extras to give it a personal touch, which we appreciate.

The room was charming and welcoming and beautifully appointed. The location was fabulous with the ability to go for long walks along the lakefront a few steps away. I didn’t receive check-in instructions and had to call for those when I arrived but the staff were super helpful and even got my room ready early as the weather was dreadful and I had my dog with me. It was a lovely place to stay!

Nothing Shabby Ugly No charm Homeless people wandering outside

parking was fantastic. Room was very spacious and clean. Bathroom was big. #5 is on the second floor. Nice view of the lift bridge and a nice view of Lake Superior from the small balcony. We did take a sauna.
