Clean and tidy Nice breakfast Close to where we wanted to be

Its location. Just a mile from the centre of town. Hotel looked onto the Crichton church which was lovely Shampoo, conditioner and soap bottles were empty. The person at reception did not have the best knowledge of the English language. Not great for from of house and asking for information

Great location, with lovely friendly staff who offer outstanding service. Heat was oppressive at times. Improved air conditioning required.

Location Very poor check in experience.

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

Character, style, location all good The rooms are very dated, the bed was awful, the base of bed creaked with every move, the mattress sinked. Poor bed and poor sleep.

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

Nice location, good food, pretty handy overnight charging, rooms nice. Great park area to walk around. Beautiful curtains, nice wall treatment, terrible worn smuffy carpet.

Location (in a park) great for the dog. Food also excellent and staff very helpful. Not much not to like.

    more staff servicing at Breakfast

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

The breakfast was poor. No one was organising tables which were not cleared and the employee in dining room was only interested if one had paid for one's breakfast.

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

Only the breakfast staff I thought it was dated and smelt

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

Really impressed by the grounds and facilities. Would definitely stay again! Even though we'd booked dinner, bed and breakfast there weren't many times available in the restaurant. It would be helpful to know when booking that we needed to book a time in the restaurant.

    Very good

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

Room size was good and the bathroom had a seperate bath and shower cubicle. Paid £197 for one night stay which included breakfast and 3 course evening meal for two adults and one child. Paying upfront for the evening meal was worth it because it worked out to £10, pp, where as the 3 course meal is £30pp if you turn up and pay the restaurant separately. Katie, Mary and one other waitress in the restaurant were really nice (missed her name) Damien on reception in the morning was pleasant. Lady on reception desk was a little miserable (name badge a little obscured so couldn't see it properly) She was eating in the office when we arrived, told us that we needed to go for dinner right away (around 6pm) because at 7pm there were 2 coach loads of people arriving for dinner and it would be too busy. A little irritating because I called the day before to ask if booking was needed and was told no. We went to dump our bags in our room and found it had only been set for 2 people. Just the 2 towels and sofa bed not made up for our daughter. Not a problem as we were going for dinner. I told the reception staff who proceeded to tell me she would do it when she could, she was really busy because she was the only person working and was floating between reception and the restaurant as well as doing all the other things... Not impressed with the attitude. We had room 202 which is labeled as an executive room/suite but unfortunately is right next to the fire exit door and lift area. This means all you can hear is constant banging when people open and close the door both late in the evening (past 11pm) and well before 7am. The food wasn't the best, but for what we paid it was ok. Kids meal was pretty beige. Hugely different to the Chatham/Rochester Hotel we stayed in less than a week earlier. Being the same hotel chain, similar service was expected but this one didn't quite cut it sadly. Room was really tired too and quite a bit of dust in places especially around the sofa bed.
