Pine Marten, Dunbar by Marston's Inns

Unfortunately not a lot of good things to say about this hotel. Extremely overpriced for the standard of hotel. We paid £175 for one night in a double room, excluding breakfast, purely because it was the only nearby option for a wedding. The room was very basic and dated, and unfortunately the experience got worse from there. We paid an additional £20 for early check-in, which had been arranged in advance so we could get ready before the wedding. We were extremely tight for time, yet when we arrived there was no note on the booking to indicate that the room had been arranged for early check-in, and there was no sense of urgency from the staff. We were eventually given access to a room that hadn’t been cleaned from the previous guests. We had to change in the room and use a bathroom that still had the previous guests’ towels strewn around it. The cleaning staff were actually very apologetic and helpful, despite the situation clearly not being their fault. For £195 before breakfast, I would expect a significantly better standard and level of service. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t stay here again.

Breakfast food good; all staff excellent - very friendly and helpful Room key cards worked intermittently causing issues for family members; only one choice of coffee available at breakfast - machine broken apparently; no orange or other fruit juice available free as you would expect for breakfast for a big chain like Marston's, if we wanted some would have to pay extra - ridiculous; over-charged for early check-ins and still awaiting refund

Staff pleasant and helpful. Rooms comfortable. Family room not made up as promised and then provided with a dirty, stained mattress on the floor - very poor.

Clean and powerful water pressure for tge shower Bath/shower. Bathroom extractor not good at all. Whole room steams up.

The Breakfast The staffs attitude due to a problem with the reservation by Booking . Com Breakfast had been included with the reservation, but the Staff were adamant that it hadn’t and would have to be paid at an additional cost Room was what prepared as per booking. Booked a Twin Room with single beds, but was given a room with 1no. Double bed WiFi was impossible to connect too We were made to feel very uncomfortable and only after complaining for over an hour and showing proof of booking schedule were our problems resolved!! We will not be using this hotel again, nor would we recommend it too anyone who would not be able to stand their ground to get what they paid for

Nor much When I arrived I had to check in at the reception desk near the bar. There was a pub quiz going on and there was a loud speaker blaring the music quiz about 1m from my hear. It was nearer to me than the receptionist. She had to leave her seat and and speak directly into my ear. In the room the tv had section of screen that did not work. The remote control would not switch off the TV. The room was seriously overpriced.

The air conditioning. The beds were comfortable. The room and bathroom were really dirty and rundown. Walls and doors had dirty finger and hand marks in multiple spots. Carpet was wet in a few spots. There was a lot of mold in the bathroom. The room was also very dusty and clearly was not cleaned deeply for a very long time.
