We loved EVERYTHING about the St Ives…..the stunning location and view right on the bay…the easy stroll to town center on the boardwalk….the kindness and helpfulness of the owners Kenny and Lesley….the beautiful and spacious room…..the delicious cooked to order breakfast…the parking for our car…ALL of it! Cannot imagine a better stay in all of Dunoon! There was not one thing we disliked about this property. We loved EVERYTHING!

Delightful and warm experience

The hotel was right on the water with beautiful views of the beach and mountains. Kenny and Lesley were amazing hosts. Very accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable about the town. Highly recommended!

Loved the breakfast. I am not skilled in using radiator-style heat so I piled on the covers to stay warm on a cool night.

It was quaint. One night stay, If another night was available woukd have definitely stayed one more night. Leslie was very inviting. Breakfast was great.

Host was especially inviting and helpful. The hotel itself is in a beautiful location right on the water and close enough to the city that we could walk to the center. The room was a little small but it was very comfortable.

The quiet location on the sea, and the experienced host, made our stay wonderful When we didn't get a restaurant booked in time, he offered the lounge for our use with our takeaway dinner. Best table in town! The parking is tight if you are not used to small spaces, but VERY convenient.

Lovely hosts, very welcoming and chatty. Good breakfast well presented with a nice variety of options and we sat at a window overlooking the ocean. Lovely comfortable bed. Room was a little cold (we were the first guests after the owners closed the hotel for 2 months over the winter) but I asked for a blanket and that really helped. The bathroom was well equipped but was tiny, only room for one person at a time.

The location of the property and the view from the bar/dining area is very nice. Overall the property is very clean, however, in our bedroom there were cobwebs around the smoke detector and dust at the side of the wardrobe. (I did not go looking for dust, but the position of the chair and table in the room invite you to look at the side of the wardrobe) The bed itself was comfortable and the room functional, but this is a converted period room that has had a en-suite installed, which although very clean, is not very useable, the toilet position is very tight and quite possibly the most inconvenient convenience I have ever had to use. The room was also cold during the night due to the heating being turned off. I did check the thermostatic valve to see if it was set low, but it was fully open, the heating was definitely off, a bit disappointing considering the price of the room. TV reception was also bad, but this may have been the weather, fortunately it had Netflix’s. When we arrived, we were told we had to complete a breakfast request form and time you wanted to eat.. which I assume was to allow the “chef” to prepare the breakfast. The request form offered a selection of traditional cooked breakfast, pancakes, etc. but you could only select one, it was not possible to have any yoghurt if you had selected a breakfast, which is highly unusual, probably the first place I have stayed that does this. With regards to the breakfast itself, we had chosen the full Scottish breakfast, which arrived on a cold plate with two semi warm fried eggs, (we were not given a choice of eggs, either on the form you had to complete or when we arrived at the table) 2 rashers of bacon that were like shoe leather, mushrooms that were like rubber, a potato cake that was hard and cold, a boiled tomato, black pudding (which was really nice ironically) and a flat square type of sausage that was not particularly appealing either. On a positive note, the toast and coffee were good.
