Pure Anchorage feel...not that Hilton/Marriott stuff ...

The owner was very helpful but I it is not suitable for seniors without a car

We had a nice stay. The room was clean and the breakfast was good. It's a very unique layout. A little confusing when first arrived, but we figured it out soon enough.

Great room and staff great

It is a quite unique hotel. If you do not expect the Hilton it is a real deal. It is quite old but clean and the staff is very kind. The breakfast was phenomenal! The entrance is a shocker and the rooms have a 70’s feel but everything is maintained just quite old. They are clearly doing their best with what they have and providing what is most important: good service, a very low price and there is nothing like home cooked delicious breakfast in your first night in Alaska. Plus you are able to walk to the Museum of the north!

The entire property is unique and has a welcoming feel. Nice people and good room. Gave 4 stars instead of 5 because my wife has a bad knee. She struggled with the two flights of stairs to reach the room.

clean quiet room. with a kitchen and refrigerator.

Rustic experience

Message I left for the staff. I checked out early and forfeited the funds spent for the days that I booked . The pictures are 12 years old. The property owners unfortunately aren’t able to keep up the property. They’re on the elderly side, and nothing has been maintained . There’s an odd smell throughout the property, the breakfast wasn’t as to be expected, and the property is very cluttery in the common areas.

Beautiful room and the staff were so kind and helpful. NA

Rustic feel…Alaskan Independence. Located close to what I wanted to visit while being peaceful. Stairs

It was great for a one night stop. It was clean and comfortable. It does not have an elevator and there are steps to the first floor and a stair case to the rooms on the second floor. If you are on the first floor you might get noise from others checking in. The breakfast was good but was served on the second floor with steps to it.

Nice B&B. Excellent breakfast.

Rates seemed quite reasonable based on description, why we chose to stay. However, if you like that dreary old cabin feel (dark, tired, mishmash of old furniture in common areas and room & messy kitchen), this is it! We appreciated the bookshelves filled with a variety books and area brochures, to browse through. Bed was comfortable, with nice sheets. Room was clean, but everything is very, very dated and dark. Quiet at night (as long as no one is moving around outside the room or talking near by) ENTRY WAY was thru an enclosed garden area, not a good first intro. First thing we saw was messy garden items, then up wooden stairs, difficult to read printed signs (they were informed we were arriving late). No one was there to greet us, had to call out but found a note to call a ph#, Older gentleman (Paul) appeared awoken, said to fill out a small reg form, then escorted my husband upstairs to the room. We had to haul our luggage up a flight of stairs. It was surreal. (see pix) ASSISTANCE was absent the 1st morning we got up. No manager was around, groundsman said they were at a garage sale. 2nd morning, no manager was around until we checked out. Paul said to place key in a basket in the kitchen. We left. ROOM fireplace was electric wall mounted (not even artificial fake log type), outdated damaged cabinets furniture, price tag was on comforter (fr 2nd-hand store?). TV didn't work, wrong instruction. BATHROOM: Portable heater didn't work. Tub big, not practical. BREAKFAST: Food and area need serious attention. No person or service. The housekeeper (young man) was busy eating remaining food on both mornings, and he barely left anything for us and another couple. 1st morning, we had leftover hard boiled eggs and 1 tiny sliver of quiche, My husband noticed the housekeeper had scooped up most of the quiche, and finished the milk. He said to just get milk in the fridge, which was locked. 2nd morning the same,1 hardboil egg, a tiny dish of egg. We made a waffle, toast, cream cheese, & a small yogurt (see pix) SANITARY issue in common breakfast kitchen. Messy kitchen, dirty dishes in the sink & on counters, needs to be swept, mopped & food on counters put away. All Keurig coffee makers and water jugs need to be carefully sanitize, cleaned out (had floating stuff in water reservoirs). This would not pass sanitary inspection. (see pix) POWER OUTAGE 2 hrs on day 1, Paul said it's normal, no backup power.

Location Noise from people checking in at night

It’s an okay place to stay. I like the bathroom sink, which is huge and great for bathing in. What I hate the most was the bedsheets. They were not cleaned at all. In fact, the comforter had dirty bleach on it. I got a cough from sleeping with it. However, they have a great parking spot and friendly staff. Oh, also, it was cold in my room sometimes but the heater they put in the room didn’t work. It’s broken.

The breakfast was great.

We were greeted quickly and promptly and everything was ready for our visit. We were then introduced to the Swan Cove room for our visit. The unspoiled view of the Alaskan range from the rooms is spectacular. The room itself is well maintained and stocked with every last detail you could need for both breakfast and in the bathroom. We certainly are enjoying our choice to stay here. Our first night was quiet and restful.
