This villa is not only gorgeous inside but it is located overlooking the entire city of Florence, a truly magical view. Surrounded by gardens and nature, the villa has kept true to its roots keeping the original architecture and without much modern appliances. The bed was too noisy. Everything else was perfect.

Our new home away from home in Florence! Stop looking and start booking. The luxury hotel feels like your own private villa, complete with pool, amazing gardens and attentive wonderful staff including Ricardo, Abdulla, Babacar and Phil! We didn’t want to leave. And only 15 min to city center We loved everything!

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

Breakfast was continental and adequate, and the staff at the bar by the pool was excellent. Really kind and caring staff. The pool is a highlight as are the gardens, courtyard sitting area and in fact the whole entire building is both histric and exceptional. The washrooms are a little antiquated, and some of the connections are leaky, so that the experience was a little less than perfect, but this is a 500+ year old building, so though the plumbing is recent (50 plus years), if it has a Michelin rating, you kind of need to up the game there.

The property was absolutely stunning and the staff was so friendly and kind. The views of Florence were breathtaking and only a short taxi ride from the city center, you can also walk if you’re up for it! There was nothing I did not like, the stay was perfect.

    Nothing to dislike

Unfortunately, the hotel is far too expensive for what you actually get. While the villa itself is beautiful, the rooms are very old and worn out. They were full of mosquitoes, the carpet was dirty, and the bathtub was in poor condition. When we arrived, the air conditioning wasn’t working, and overall the room felt unfit for a comfortable stay. Because of that, we decided to leave after the first night. To their credit, the staff did offer to move us to another room, but the other rooms were also in poor condition.

The location Some of the rooms are better than others-much better. After investigating the property I found some rooms that had better views than others.I conveyed this to the hotel management and I was assigned room 4.When we arrived at the property the concierge-a nice guy-took us to 2 rooms. One room had one window and the other looked over the outdoor breakfast area. They start setting up breakfast, which is very mediocre,at around 5am.The room had two floors and the bedroom was on the 2nd level up 4 steps.I hit my head 4 times on the very low arch at the top of the stairs. No warnings of the danger.I take blood thinners and it can be quite dangerous to get an internal bleed. The bathroom was horrible,no shower, only a wand and and old rusted fixtures and very pedestrian toiletries.Breakfast is a buffet.I have been to much better throughout Europe, much better when considering this hotels ranking and status.I mentioned several times that I was very disappointed in the hotel, particularly about my room.I have correspondence from them on Booking.com which indicates ‘don’t worry Edward we have booked you in room 4 with views of the pool and and Florence’.We ended up looking over the breakfast area.Very disappointed especially after the staff agreed that a mistake was made.It turns out I was bumped out of my room because they had a better customer who comes every year.Thats fine from their part, but not from mine.If I had known about my room change I could have simply cancelled and stayed in another one of the fine hotels around Florence that I have stayed in.Instead I was given the old bait and switch. The one and only reason I booked this hotel was for the view and the grounds. This was one of the worst hotel rooms I have ever stayed in.In a lovely spot that’s all that I can add.I don’t usually review a bad situation but this was horrible. Also beware of the bed which had steps on one side that required navigation immediately after getting up.Ridiculous.

The location, property and view. Nothing. It was perfect.

  • Engine customer Jun 2025

Breakfast was good. Staff were excellent and very welcoming. The location and the views are outstanding. Plugs and adapters in rooms.

The location and the views are fantastic. The building is beautiful. I would have preferred a shower as well as the bath - even a shower over the bath would have been better. Booking.com tried to take money from me, luckily my card declined it, but even though I asked the hotel why (and there is no way to ask booking.com directly) I did not get an explanation as to why this happened

The location of this hotel is quite simply stupendous. It has the most amazing view overlooking Florence. There is a lovely path down to town through olive groves - about half an hour's walk to the Pitti Palace. The building is also spectacular - stunning ceilings and lovely loggia. Charming staff - very low key. Breakfast is fine - v much help yourself. It would have been nice to be able to make a cup of tea/coffee in the room. The soaps etc were v basic and my bubble bath was removed so I had none for the second night! However I don't really care about all these very minor points as it is the most stunning hotel.

None, the breakfast was not good either. Check my long bad review below. Please DO NOT COME TO THIS HOTEL. If I’m not mistaken the management lady’s name is Ann but I’m not sure. This woman is very rude, entitled and self absorbed. What happened was it was 7:00pm and I asked if it was too late to order the hotel dinner(you’re supposed to put down your order before 6), the nice door man said no it’s too late, but this old woman was standing beside him and overheard me asking and she said we can take the order in. So I put in my order and am told to go to the restaurant at 8pm for my dinner. At 7:40 I go out for a smoke and literally see my dinner get taken out of a car by a man and the food is in boxes and plastic bags, I go inside and the doorman playfully says your food is here. I sit in the restaurant area 8pm sharp and start to wait. About 8:20 a sad sad dish of bread with ( supposed to be beef) brown paste is served and it turns out there’s a miss communication in the appetizer menu, it tasted spot on like dog food though. Later I am loosing my mind out of starvation and I tell the only poor girl serving the 5 guests eating in that restaurant to please bring my food and I have been waiting too long. The food does arrive at 9:00pm but everything was cold already and the proportion were very small and the food tasted BAD. Later the old woman who I think is the manager comes out asking if everything is okay, and I am not ok so I tell her the service is awful here and I waited AN HOUR FOR HER TO GET THE FOOD OUT OF THE BOX AND INTO A PLATE. And her attitude towards HER poor management was awful, she did not apologized or acknowledge anything about her poor management, and put her palm in my face saying “I don’t want to waste my time back and forth with this issue”. She claims it’s not her problem or responsibility for me not knowing that they actually don’t cook the food, and this is her excuse for taking an hour to get the food out of the box and onto a plate in an hour? PLEASE DO NOT give this lady anymore business.

Such a beautiful garden and such a beautiful property - really loved my time here. The breakfast was not appetizing - it would have been nice to have had some hot foods instead of just cold things.

  • Engine customer Jan 2025

The property is incredible. We loved the cats and the donkeys. The history was beautiful. The breakfast was a bit lacking but generally ok.

  • Engine customer Oct 2024

The grounds are very beautiful, and the architecture is impressive. You can tell the building was once a beautiful hotel. It was very dirty, the staff was unhelpful (except for Daniela), and the hotel is not very accommodating. It felt like you would need to travel with a butler in order to truly enjoy such a large and dated property.

  • Engine customer Oct 2024

Location is excellent. The surrounding grounds are magical.

  • Engine customer Oct 2024

This home had so much character and charm, it felt real. It wasn’t perfect but that’s what made it so perfect. There was so much to explore and to find during my stay here, each day I was discovering something new. It had nothing that I didn’t like

  • Engine customer Oct 2024

Breakfast was excellent and the terrace it was served on was stunningly beautiful. The property is unique in a beautiful setting, it was nice to be away from the crowds in Florence city centre and have the opportunity to stay in a 12th, to 13th century villa. The surrounding gardens are beautiful. Maybe coffee in the room. .

Views and grounds were wonderful Breakfast was very poor the fresh were cordial and fresh juices breads were only stale white bread and not yogurt’s. There was no social area for drinks and the food option was limited with prepackaged pizzas being the only option.

Probably the most scenic hotel in Florence and has all the facilities you need. Slightly far out from the city. But still walkable
