A very nice stay overall. The room was nice, and bath on the balcony in the room was excellent. The open air public onsen was also beautiful. The dinner was very traditional and presented beautifully. Excellent service from the staff. If you are staying here in the summer, take the free shuttle otherwise you will be walking uphill from the train station for a solid 15 minutes. Every single light switch in the room had an annoying green night-light that could not be turned off. This may not have been an issue, except most of the light switches were next to the beds. Bring an eye mask if you prefer to sleep in a dark room.

The food was exceptional. Miss Riko and the entire staff treated us like family, with incredible attention to detail and service throughout our stay. The onsen water was amazing, and Gero is truly a hidden gem. I highly recommend Suihoen and Gero. We stayed in the older wing of the ryokan in a traditional tatami room, which felt slightly dated. That said, it had authentic ryokan charm, was very clean and well maintained, and we ended up loving it.

Absolutely beautiful accomodation, modern, spacious, so clean. Food was exquisite. Staff were so friendly and helpful. We had a great experience (our favourite accomodation in Japan, and wish we stayed two nights instead of one!). Room was beautiful with two private onsens where you can adjust the heat! We definetly will stay here again on our next trip! Thank you!

With a bit of age but maintained exceptionally well! Staff were super friendly and helpful. The public onsen can be slightly bigger if possible but we had our own private tub in our room that was ultra spacious and comfortable.

The breakfast and dinner served were one of the best I have had in my many, ⁹traveling of the world best hotels.

We had an amazing stay. Our room was beautiful, clean, and well appointed. The staff were so friendly and accommodating to our English speaking. The food was incredible and authentic, we were stuffed! We felt very spoiled by this hotel, we stayed here during our honeymoon and they presented us with a gift and even took a commemorative photo which is now hanging in our house. We loved our stay here so much and hope to return some day. Nothing to dislike!

The staff were exceptionally friendly and it was surprising that many of them spoke a degree of English.

The room was exceptional, it came with a massage chair , private in room onsens (indoor and outdoor) , two comfy beds and two tatamis for our family of 4 , breakfast and dinner was great too! Delicious and great service! Appreciate the relaxing stay in Suihoen! Highly reccomend ! Is the best ryokan stay I have ever stayed in JP so far! Oh and it came w free alcohol and drinks in room fridge , coffee and tea too ! Nothing! Is perfect get away stay

    • Room : was VERY wide, long entrance, 2 toilets, a wide room with a dining table, TV and massage chair (also did not use both), small kitchen with drinks in fridge, one large tatami room, spacious bedroom with two double beds. You also have triple mirrors in multiple places and almost all the windows have insect net, window and wooden covers. • Onsen : Two private onsen baths large enough to fit at least 2, maybe 3 people. The temperature is perfect! (Very warm but not to the point where you feel like burning when you get in. The onsen inside is next to the shower, and rhe one outside has a very nice view on the town and the mountains. • Food : Dinner was Kaiseki (traditionnal japanese way of serving the food in courses in the room) and lasted about two hours with many different things ; seafood, meat, vegetables, soup, etc. If you're vegetarian or dislike seafood (there's quite a lot), I'd say fhere's still enough of other things to surely fill your stomach. For breakfast, see the picture (includes everything). • Service : Amazing, very polite and help you with whatever they can. The price is however to take into account when booking this place. I'd obviously not come here when travelling alone but is sure a great place to stay for either a honeymoon or with friends/family if you have the budget for it.

Lovely accommodation. The food is truly magnificent. I am still missing it. It is also next to an open-air museum. The location is a bit far from the town area. You need to have your own vehicle to get there.
