The location was excellent -- very close to the main onsen streets and gassho village, and just a bit of a walk from the train station. The staff was very helpful and even made a dinner reservation for us at a local restaurant prior to our arrival. They also gave us good tips about shops to visit and onsen-hopping opportunities (which we largely skipped due to the hot weather). The facilities all seemed quite clean and new. The breakfast was quite basic, as advertised, though tasty -- but if this helps to keep the costs down, it's worth the tradeoff.

The place is absolutely awesome! We opted for it because we wanted something as close to a Japanese style as possible, and it was just that. We slept in a tatami room on futon beds and in the morning we had a basket with miso soup and some other stuff. Everything was really clean. The private bath was nothing less than fantastic and Gero, in general, is a quiet and relaxing place. 100% recommend. Also, the staff was very nice, explained everything very well in English and really kind and friendly overall.

The private onsen was super relaxing the staff were very kind. I told them about my food allergies and they arranged my breakfast to be completely gluten free! I will absolutely stay there again!

Exceptionally clean with excellent staff.
-
Nice family own. Poor breakfast & shouldn’t charge for onsen fee.
-
The ryokan was clean, centrally located, comfortable, and a good value. The staff was friendly, polite, and helpful. None

The staff was great and the private hot bath was really good for us because we travel with 2 kids and public onsen was not an option
-
A decent walk to JR Gero station, but for the price, I have no complaints. Staff were helpful and provided advice as to which baths to explore (and use coupons at). Beds were comfortable - I found it very hard (in a good way) to stay awake as soon as I lay down.
-
I like onsen and staff can speak English and give us information about traveling Breakfast is bread and soup, not much variety for breakfast

It was clean, modern with a traditional style and peaceful. Easy to get to the main attractions. Thoughtful additions like a multi port charger and hair ties and razors, (the things you may have forgotten to pack!) It did not have a laundry.

nothing at all.

The breakfast was fine to eat in our room and we would expect some sort of rice onigiri to go with hot soup than a croissant. The location was on an uphill and about 10-12 mins walk from Gero train station. The restroom was small and we would suggest with a shower curtain to avoid wetting the whole toilet. The yukata was not in our room but to be collected at the front desk. The in-house onsen was a little on the high side but they've suggested some public ones nearby.

The accommodation is lovely and very clean, blending traditional charm with modern comfort. Most importantly, the staff gave excellent restaurant recommendations that suited us perfectly. The room is not very soundproof, and conversations outside can be heard inside. During our stay, there happened to be a child crying.
-
room very clean, staff can speak english need to pay for onsen or go other public bath

Comfortable Bed & Blanket

The staff were super lovely and helpful. I felt very welcome at the property. The room was big and extremely clean and the futon was super comfortable. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the breakfast soup but that is being very picky. I was grateful to have a little something to start out my day.

Staff was very helpful in getting us situated and comfortable.

The staff was lovely, spoke excellent English and welcomed us very nicely. They gave us a map and recommendations on where to eat, onsens in the area, and even gave us discount coupons. The location is great
