The whole hotel has deferred maintenance. I told manager shower did nit drain, he told me he took care of it and did not. bathroom needed complete redo!

The panoramic view from our suite was spectacular! We had the view in our balcony and even from the bathtub. This is an absolutely outstanding heritage hotel with so much history in every corner — but rooms do need some updates. The hotel breakfast is superb, with a whole spread of orange juice, buns, fruit plate and a main course of huevos rancheros, hot cakes, or french toast. I also love that the hotel has a trail that leads down right to the Monumento Pipila, right next to the funicular station, making it very easy to get to the old town. The room was very historical but definitely needed a renovation. The Wifi was not stable and didn’t work on a few days. There were no plugs at the work desk.

The whole point of staying here was to take advantage of the beautiful view and stay at what seemed to be one of the more luxurious hotels in the Historic Center area. The bedding was very comfortable. The bathroom was very nice and shower water pressure was very good. The view of the Historic Center was incredible and the proximity to the Pipila monument was great. There’s a little back walkway downhill that the staff leads you through and leaves you right at the monument and little tram (funicular) to get to the Historic Center. The booking came with a free breakfast but I had to ask for it and my request was met with some skepticism. I finally received the coupons and the breakfast included coffee, fresh squeezed juice, fresh fruit and chilaquiles with eggs to order. It was amazing and our server was attentive and exceptional. Our stay felt like something out of The Shining. No other guests were there - that we know of. We were greeted by Mr. Sanchez - he was very kind and professional and helped us with check in. When we went down to the bar/restaurant, no one was there. Had to ask to be served a drink. The surrounding grounds have a lot of potential to be enjoyed but instead look overgrown and unkempt. Basically the place looked like it had been closed for a long time and they were trying to get things back up and running. But I can’t be sure. The most disappointing part of our one-night stay was the kid that worked the Night Shift. We had been having dinner and arrived back at the hotel about 11:30. This kid - Eduardo - was sitting casually on a lobby couch bullshitting on the phone with his buddies. He didn’t get up; he basically acted like we had interrupted his conversation. We asked if the bar was still open; he said no. We asked if he worked there. He said technically no, he did not. He was just an “auditor” - there to make sure that the daytime staff had done their jobs properly. He was sloppy and unprofessional and served no purpose as far as I could tell. He was the icing on the cake that made me want to check out right then and there. I won’t be staying there again and I do not recommend it.

The location of this hotel cannot be beat! We had views of the entire city from our room ( and our bathroom!). The room was gigantic! Comfortable, beautiful, and old mission-like! Really lovely! The bathroom was also huge with beautiful old hand-made tiles and whimsical fish faucet and knobs. The breakfast was very plentiful and satisfying. Pillows were hard.
