Great location, close to the lift and bus terminal as well as food trucks and restaurants. Hotel was exactly as advertised, no surprises. While it’s a bit dated it was exactly as advertised and would say it was great value for the price especially compared to others! They even offer free rentals with your stay, we didn’t use it as we brought our own gear but appreciated the offer! Breakfast was lacking, went once and didn’t go back. Had bread and jams and yogurt.

Location is convenient as it’s in the heart of Hakuba, ski slope is within 15mins walk ( walkable distance but not super close ), room is clean though it’s simple No public bath

Breakfast was average but adequate mainly peanut butter jelly sandwiches, other continental foods. Relaxed friendly atmosphere. Restaurant was clean and good views. Staff were very attentive. They have a great pizza restaurant which is hidden gem in Hakuba!! No complaints. However wished there was more breakfast selections.

Location Bit dated

Quiet, clean and comfortable. Beautiful location. Helpful staff. Time of year (October) not a lot open but were still able to find what we needed regarding bike hire after searching a bit harder.

I stayed for just one night, but the experience was fantastic. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. After a rainy hike, I was soaked, and they kindly let me use the washing and drying machines to take care of my wet clothes. The next day, it was pouring rain again, and they generously gave me a lift to Hakuba Station. Their hospitality made my stay so much more comfortable, and I really appreciated the extra care they provided.

The location was great, right in the middle of Happo village near restaurants and shops. The rooms are clean, comfortable and a good size. The hotel staff really made the stay special. Super friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I plan on coming back in winter as the location can’t be beaten. Would highly recommend staying here. Nothing

In order to collect the toothbrush we need to go to the reception. It would be really helpful if they already provide the toothbrush in the room

The pillows are very hard bean filled pillows - they have a pillow selector in the reception but all the pillows were gone - the reception hastily located a very small pillow for me so I could sleep. Recommend they remove all the hard bean filled pillows and replace them all with good hotel quality pillows.

We were very happy with our choice the Hakuba Gateway Hotel. It represents very good value for money. The room was very clean and quiet. The beds especially were extremely comfy! Wifi was good also. The included breakfast was simple but plentiful and the staff were invariably helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel is really handy, just 5 minutes' walk to the closest chairlift, from which you can then access the whole Happo-One mountain. It is also 10 minutes' walk to the Happo Bus Terminal, from which you can easily travel to other resorts and go on tours. And what a wonderful surprise to discover the hidden gem of the forest Shinto temple just a few meters away from the hotel! For nightlife, it was great to be able to step out and have a choice of dining venues, from the yummy food truck fare just across the road to the upmarket The Grill (The Happo Hotel). In between those two, don't miss the quaint Ohyokkuri restaurant just round the corner, which has people queuing before opening time for traditional Japanese food! So, all in all, we highly recommend this hotel for price, quality and convenience.

The staff makes the difference. I've stayed at Hakuba 2 star hotels that could be 1 stars easily, but this place is more like a 3 star spot. Limited by the age of the hotel, but it is nice all around

breakfast and location. walls very thin, very noisy from adjoining rooms.
-
Very friendly staff and accommodating. About 3 minute walk to nearest ski lift and lots of Japanese food trucks right outside the hotel. We had free ski hire which was not pre-advertised so a big plus! The staff even dropped us off at the bus station on departure. Thank you so much, we will come again!

Location, location, location. Ski hire included in price to stay. Accommodation above ski hire shop. Clean. Good staff. View from room window. Lacked charm. Bit tired. Facilities lacking. Breakfast very basic and lacked variety and imagination.
