Erica & Tomo were excellent hosts, they took care of us for the entire stay. They arranged our ski passes and ski rentals with discounted rates. Their warmth and hospitality made our stay very comfortable and easy. We had dinner prepared by Erica & Tomo one night and it was exceptional. Breakfasts were hearty and got us fueled up for skiing.

We had an amazing stay at Sunny Side Hut. Honestly, we loved everything. Communication ahead of time (especially about shipping skis) was super easy, and they were flexible about letting us arrive early. The rooms were comfortable, quiet, and perfect for resting after big ski days. Breakfast was cooked each morning by Erica and Tomo, and the location is incredibly convenient for Hakuba 47. We also appreciated the ski area discount, great parking, and the super practical setup for skiers: drying room plus laundry. Huge shoutout to Erica for helping us ship our skis back to the airport seamlessly, which made our travel day stress-free. We can't wait to come back for future winters (and summer mountain biking!) Nothing really could have been better for us. The only “note” is that if you’re looking for a place to host loud group hang-out sessions, this likely isn’t the vibe — it’s more calm, cozy, and relaxing (which we loved).

Very hospitable and friendly owners. Excellent local knowledge and was able to help us go around the area. Was also able to get great rates for ski pass and rentals. Our stay was exactly what we were looking for we didn't want the hotel experience but we instead had a Japanese family accommodation. Very professional owners. Home is very neat and clean.

The owners were extremely nice and friendly. The location is great, it is very close to the ski slopes. Breakfast is provided and it is filling and delicious. We enjoyed our stay here.

Sunny Side Hut is such a special place, and staying there felt like being part of a family. Erika and her husband are the kindest, warmest people, and they really made my trip unforgettable. The location is super convenient—close to the train station, bus station, and just a short trip to the Goryu ski slopes. It made everything so easy, even when it was snowing really hard during my stay. The absolute highlight, though, has to be Erika’s cooking. Every single meal she made was out of this world! Day after day, I was blown away by her incredible home cooking—it was such a treat and definitely one of the best parts of my trip. Her husband was so helpful, driving us to and from the bus station and making sure we had everything we needed. Even with the heavy snow, the hut was cozy and comfortable. I already miss Erika, her husband, and their amazing hospitality. If you’re heading to Hakuba, you have to stay here—it’s such a warm and welcoming place, and I can’t recommend it enough! One small thing to note: I did find a few stink bugs in my room during my stay. It didn’t ruin my experience, but it’s something to keep in mind, especially in the winter months when bugs might come inside for warmth. That said, the overall warmth and hospitality made it easy to overlook.

The hosts were so friendly and helpful during our stay. Picked us up and dropped us off at the Kamishiro Station. And helped us rent snowboard and book lift passes. (Hakub Goryu and Hakuba47).

Tomo-san and Erica-san made our ski trip very much enjoyable despite the weather not being the best. The food is yummy, the room is comfortable, and they make every effort for the guests to feel at home. Dining options in the vicinity are limited.
