Hotel Commerz Hamburg

The hotel is next door to a great Italian restaurant. We were not emailed a room number or entry code. The front door is unlocked 24 hours , allowing anyone to enter. The entry area is not clean or inviting in any way. There is no one working at the desk. The automatic check in does not work. The emergency phone numbers do not respond to a foreign phone number. It took hours to get any help and then it was only because we found a very kind English speaking person at the restaurant next door. He was finally able to reach someone on one of the emergency numbers after trying several times and using his own ,German phone. If it had not been for him we would have had to sleep in the hallway. We finally , were able to gain access to our room at around 8pm . By this time we were cold from the rain and my wife was feeling sick.For this reason , even though the bottoms of the shower curtain are moldy. we asked for another night stay so that we could rest and we were told the place was full booked and there was nothing available we had to leave by 11am. We asked if we could have a later check out and we were told that if we didn't leave by 11am the police would be called. The man was very rude and we responded in kind. He refused to even offer us any directions for another place to stay and told ius "Google: it. We told him to go ahead and call the police... and then, he finally said we could stay until 2pm . By that time we were packed had left by 12 noon. Wefound a much nicer place for two more nights.that was a good price , had actual human beings on staff. I would advise anyone to stay away from hotel.Commerz It is the worst experience we have had in our 5 weeks of travel through Europe.

I always liked the location, and returned many times. Ein Stammgast. Now it is only a soulless shell with no Ambiente whatsoever. The whole checking in process was hopeless, it took an hour of our time in Hamburg and was frustrating to say the least. If you have to go digital do it well. This was a a Kafkaesk experience and the place would definitely not be safe if a fire started at the bottom. We were right under the roof.

Very easy for the Altona S-Bahn station with direct trains for Hamburg Airport. Room was clean, bed very comfortable. This was cheap for a central Hamburg hotel - was value for money Smell - bathroom smelt musty.

Not much. Location was convenient but otherwise I did not like it and would not choose this place again. This is the least hospitable a hotel can be. There is not staff at reception. The code they gave us for the main door did not work (even though we arrived at check in time) and they didn’t respond to my message in time, so another guest had to open the door for us. The AC was extremely cold and you can’t control it in your room. They have an open, unsecured wifi network that worked horribly. The TV was therefore super slow and cutting out. Overall, you are paying for a bed within 4 walls, but nothing more than that.

Simple clean room with comfortable bed. It took some time to get the shower to an acceptable heat and the soap flask in the shower was empty :(

There was zero customer support and no help. Hotel guests had to help each other, instead of hotel staff

+ Near Hamburg-Altona Hbf, just 4' walking and the train connects to fast every direction we want to go + 5' Walk to the shopping centre and lots of restaurants + Bed and blankets are comfy, room is warm if you close window + No elevator, climbing to the 4th. floor on the whole vacation didn't feel good, especially when you accidentally forget something + New guests got confused in front of the checking door, cause they all looked at the wrong pin-code-box, we were also like that the first time. Have to call and try some different passwords cause mostly they're wrong.. ( 3 times passwords have to be tried) + No fridge + The price could be lower around 70-75€ instead 100€/night, cause basically the room just has chair-table-clothes hanger and bathroom with shower curtain. Empty shampoo though.

Also, the cleaning service is poor — the cleaner does not properly clean the room, and the bed sheets and duvet covers are not changed regularly. The only good thing about this hotel is that the location is very good. Other than that, the experience has been disappointing. When I selected this hotel on Booking.com, breakfast was included.
