Splendid Hotel & Spa

The swimming pool was in a different location.

We had a wonderful stay at Splendid Hotel. Hannah was fantastic. She helped us plan tours, arranged an early check-in, and was always friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to assist. We really appreciated everything she did to make our stay so easy. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. They’re simple, but perfect if you’re out exploring Hanoi for most of the day. One thing to note is that the swimming pool isn’t located at this hotel, it’s at their sister property. However, if you’re only in Hanoi for a few days and spending most of your time sightseeing, we didn’t find this to be an issue at all. There is also a lift that can be rare in some areas! We would happily stay here again!

Really in downtown. Found everything in the area. The only thing is swimming pool was not available in the property but nearby.

The location is very close to a main intersection, and on weekends there is a weekly presentation which is lovely but the noise from setup and music can be overwhelming at times. The pool for this hotel is also not on-site, rather a 5 minute walk to another location, which is ok but good to know ahead of time

The staff were really exceptional here. They build rapport, they assist with every need, even anticipating what you might need too! I was honestly impressed by their level of service. Would not hesitate staying here again. Location - just across Hoan Kiem lake, this is a perfect spot for a stay in Hanoi. Mixue is just across the hotel, while King Roti is just about 100m away. Room - sufficient lighting, cool air conditioning, and it has a balcony for great views. Though advertised as having their own pool, it actually is in another property of theirs roughly around 350m away. Nonetheless, the pool was good and had a nice view of Hoan Kiem lake. Towels are provded and there is also a shower area.

Excellent location; quiet rooms; friendly staff

The staff of Hannah and company were outstanding from the first communications to the departing gift of some Vietnam coffee. We were 3 in the room and so with 3 luggage, it was a one way street but fine enough.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff were so welcoming and kind. Truly the best staff out of all our hotels. We told them our check in time and when we arrived they let us check in early which was a relief after the flight. They also gave us a map of suggested restaurants, cafes and activities. Really great location near shopping and restaurants. They said we could store our luggage for free during our trip to ha long bay which was a convenient offer too. Would highly recommend.

We only had one night in Hanoi, but Splendid Hotel and Spa was wonderful for what we needed. It’s in a great part of town in the Old Quarter, everything is very walkable. They set up a transfer from the airport which was very easy and convenient. The staff was wonderful, especially Hannah, Flora, and Bling. They had many recommendations for what to do in town. We also got a massage at the spa and it was the perfect end to our time here!

Hannah and the staff were very courteous and helpfull for things to do and see. The location was great and the room and bed were very clean and comfortable.

I didn't like anything about it nothing close to the website!!!! It's dirty, noisy, no breakfast, no view, I asked for nice view and I got to look at the dirty Street! everything was the opposite from the website.

Lovely staff, great facilities! Very clean and accomodating! I think our room was next to a laundry which was a bit loud at night but otherwise a lovely stay!

The location is great. Communication: we selected a promo with late check-out. However, only after lengthy discussions we actually got the late check-out as advertised.

Linh and Hoa were super helpful at reception! They helped me book a day trip to Ha Long Bay as well as a taxi to the airport. Location is great near Hoa Kiem lake.

Hoa is very accommodating, helpful and friendly. Rooms were very comfortable, pillow was a little stiff. Hotel has elevator. Lots of shops, massages and restaurants around. Perfect location to night market by river. Close to train station for cafes to see train. Need softer pillows

I did not have breakfast included. However, Bling made sure I had a packed breakfast to take with me in the morning. That went above and beyond!

The property was in an excellent location right across from the lake. Staff was helpful and friendly. Everything else about this hotel was terrible. We had 5 rooms for our party and took up most of the small hotel itself. Each person in our party had something wrong with their room. 1 party had a power outage for a few hours and they couldn’t get into their room. Another room had really bad plumbing issues with their toilet. The ac leaked, the showers would flood the bathrooms turning them into very slippery wet rooms. There are ants in our rooms. The good reviews are WRONG. TERRIBLE HOTEL. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Although this hotel was overall a disappointment and a challenge in our trip, the front desk staff were friendly and communicative overall. They worked with one of their other hotels to get us tickets to a rooftop New Year's Eve party, which was lovely. In addition, the hotel is well-located just about a block from the lake in the Old City in Hanoi. I ran out of space on the negative side, but please note: THE ROOMS: The rooms are a bit smaller than in the photos and rather squishy. It was a struggle to put our luggage out to take out our things. This might not be an issue for you, but it was a surprise for us. For the cost per night, we had expected a bit more. The hotel we stayed at later (post bug discovery), Flower Boutique Hotel, was half the price and 3x nicer and still quite close to the Old Town. PART ONE: THE ANTS After we got home from our New Year's Eve event, we were ready to go to sleep until we discovered... ANTS. Our entire hotel room was completely infested with them, to the point where it would have been very uncomfortable and, perhaps, irresponsible of us to stay there. The staff member we found at 2/3 AM gave us some bug spray with no other instructions (although later we learned that there were forever chemicals and serious lung irritants in said spray) and we sprayed everything we owned with the bug spray. After this, we couldn't find anyone and to help us move rooms or hotels or anything (The staff member who gave us bug spray was gone. We even tried messaging the staff member we had originally communicated with to find a solution, but it was late so we only heard back from them the next morning.), so we were outside in the Old Quarter on New Year's Eve wandering between hotels trying to find a hotel to house us for the evening -- one that was not riddled with insects. And although we were able to find somewhere to stay by using my long-distance roaming to call a hotel nearby, it was overall a terrible experience. We were rattled, all of our clothes needed to be specially washed, everything stank of bug spray, I was coughing like a seal for about two days because of the chemicals in the bug spray, and we were exhausted. PART TWO: HOTEL RESPONSE When we shared our experience with the hotel, they claimed that the manager was unwilling to offer us a full refund because "said she still had room in other hotel and if you told the staff here we would change for you. I'm sorry I was too tired last night so I didn't know that you text me..." As noted above, we did try to reach out through the appropriate channels (though of course I understand that it was very late; I wouldn't have been awake either).
