Ubuntu Hostel

It’s in Hanoi. The night before our booking I messaged to ask if we could check in early, as we were getting into Hanoi early morning (happy with checking in at any time), but got no reply. So the follow morning when we were in Hanoi I messaged again and got a reply telling us when we got to the reception to call their number to check in, so we assumed we may be able to check in a bit earlier. We ended up going to the hotel at around 10, no one was there, so we called their number. Which we proceeded to do for about 30 minutes, calling them at least 7 or 8 times with no reply. We found out they have another location which we decided to go to, where a woman who obviously works there was a bit rude and basically turned us away and told us to call the number. After leaving and finding a cafe to sit in we got a message from the number asking if we needed help. Bearing in mind I had also asked about checking in over message again on his WhatsApp. After asking AGAIN if we could check in we were told we couldn’t until 2, which is fair enough but had he answered us earlier we wouldn’t have been so fed up with the response. We ended up going back at 2, he messaged to say we could check so we told him we were already in reception, which he doubted so we had to send picture proof that we were actually there. Then he told us we couldn’t check in yet because our room wasn’t clean yet. We watched the cleaner walk in at 2 and we checked in at 2:30. Our room was filthy. I say room but it could be called a cupboard. The floor was incredibly gritty and the bathroom stank and definitely had not been cleaned thoroughly. There was also a large amount of dirt and rubbish down the side of the bed, along with dirt and grime stuck on the wall. The door has a translucent window in it which they’ve tried to put a curtain over but there’s still a gap at the bottom so a lot of light gets in at night. We were then messaged again saying we had to pay into a safe outside our room and send a video of us doing it.

Location This place is a scam. They have fake reviews all posted on the same date last year, all giving 10/10 and all in a different language to the country the review is supposedly from. All the genuine reviews say that this place is awful. We booked this place in a rush as we were getting off a bus at 1am and needed somewhere to sleep. We saw that this place had an average rating of 7.8 which we now realise was untrue. Firstly, you have to walk down a sketchy dark alley to find the place. The room looked nothing like the photo. The drain was filthy, shower had no hot water and there were bugs everywhere. The light in the hallway was on and the door to our room had a glass panel which meant the room was stupidly light when we were trying to sleep. Do not book here!

Absolutely awful. I have no words. There were ants everywhere, hair all over the bed, and mold in multiple places. The air conditioning didn’t work, and the door couldn’t even be locked. On top of that, the service was terrible. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Stay away.

Avoid. Fire trap. "24 hour desk" was an unmanned desk. 100 foot narrow corridor leading to a five-story spiral staircase with no other exit. Constant, noisy coming and going at all hours of day and night, manager often slow to respond for hours, overheard other guests say their room had been double-booked.

Don’t know where to start, seriously! No noise isolation at all, you can hear the beside rooms person breathing , I’m not kidding! You can see from the pictures I’ll add. Those are not rooms even, it’s like build in between two buildings backyards, no bricks! Ahh before I forgot, see the lizard at the bathroom picture! Nothing else than the location

Don’t even bother to stay and check in. The reception was so lazy to even receive us at the start. Bad service bad environment None

The Location The room is infested with a lot of bed bugs. Not only 3 or 5 bed bugs, this is massive. Definitely not possible to sleep due to the bites, and you will see the bugs moving on your bed, walls, and bed curtains.

I can't say anything about the property itself as I couldnt stay there. they did not hold my room, so I arrived after a LONG day of travel and I then had to organise some random place, last minute and then make my way there. They did pay for the moped taxi there...

They declined my stay on booking.com because they try to avoid taxes.. but anyway, it's not my concern, i needed this confirmation to reach 3 lvl of discounts, and i insisted on not declining my stay on the website, but they had declined it after. The hostel is strange and has a dark vibe in it, one may end up there by mistake and only for one night while looking for a new hostel

Ha Giang tour is really great, I am very satisfied but the hostel room is not up to expectation.

The workers speak English The hot water doesnt function in the morning, when I was going out the next day, I complained about it, nothing was done. I had to bath with cold water, it was so disappointing

The service here is very attentive and friendly but the lack of motorbike parking makes it difficult for me to move around.

The common area is very comfortable, suitable for relaxing and socializing but the bedroom I stayed in was quite small, not much space for luggage.

The staff is always ready to help and give detailed advice on tours. However, sometimes there are new friends who do not fully understand the service information.

Shampoo and shower gel not available. Water flow is weak. Air conditioner is not very cool.

The room had no windows. They let us pay before informing us that the room was 400m from the advertised location.

Cheap, central location. House in deep alley, hard to find. Go up by stairs, basic facilities.

6 metal spiral staircases. No blinds and it was a glass door so light came in from the hallway all night as well as a large exit sign in our room.
