Golden Silk Boutique Hotel

The first room we had smelled strongly of mildew. I asked for another bottle of water for our room ( you can't drink the tap water or use it for brushing your teeth) and the receptionist told me I could purchase the bottles from the room refrigerator or buy some down the street.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, making it a relaxing place to come back to after busy days of exploring. Breakfast was great, with a good mix of local and Western options. A fantastic base for experiencing Hanoi, we really enjoyed our time here!

Wonderful, helpful staff. Great location. Room was more spacious than I expected and quite clean. Liked having a refrigerator and being provided two water bottles each day. Breakfast had good variety —something for everyone, and some of the dishes would change each day. Very difficult to control room temp - was often too cold. Not enough outlets. Rooms with interior windows are a bit dark (but this is expected)

The Golden Silk Hotel is located in the best spot in Hanoi's old quarter. It is only 5 min walk from Beer Street and Ho Hoan Kiem Lake and 10 minutes to the Temple of Literature in the opposite direction. After having stayed in a hotel in the Old Quarter itself, the Golden Silk Hotel and others along this road are definitely a step above. We stayed in the “presidential suite” which consisted of a large shower, with spa tub for 2 people, a separate living room area, a kitchen area, and a large balcony. The room was nicely lit, with good quality and comfortable furniture. The staff were always helpful with each of our needs. If reserved early enough, the price per night was excellent. We reserved 6 months before arrival. The only downside to this room is that the kitchen is disabled. The stove has no electricity, the cupboards contain no dishes, no silverware, and no pots for cooking. The staff did bring up plates and cutlery when requested. The fridge and freezer were in need of serious cleaning (see pictures). We brought food in to eat in the kitchen that did not require cooking. The only other thing we can say about this room is that there was a sulfur/sewer odor that seemed to emanate from the air conditioning ducts, which we helped by opening the terrace doors.

We booked the family suite for six nights. It was a nice and private stay since our units were the only one on the ninth floor. Additionally, the air conditioning in the rooms worked very well, and the beds were comfortable. Clean towels and linens were offered everyday. Water pressure could be better. The lobby area is nice and air conditioned; the elevator and hallway areas leading to the rooms are not air conditioned. Breakfast is available on the 10th floor and offered a mix of Western and Vietnamese food. There is laundry and room service available; both of which are satisfactory. The building felt very safe and secure, and the staff (especially, Thao, Hung, and Cuong) were available at all hours to handle requests, as well as receive items on your behalf from local businesses and post office delivery. Overall, we would definitely consider coming back to stay here since the location and amenities were great! Highly recommend this hotel for solo travelers, couples, and families alike if you want to be close to a lot of amazing food and shopping within the Old Quarter of Hanoi. I did want to note that there was a period of time where the power in our unit died. It was resolved after a period of about six hours, but it was a bit inconvenient since it happened during the time we would have liked to sleep. Additionally, communication from the staff during this time was not great - we had to ask for updates instead of them providing updates proactively. We were also not compensated beyond a brief apology and the staff did not bring it up during check-out either; whether that was intentional or the check-out staffer helping us was simply not informed, I am unsure. Granted, this was a very specific instance to our stay at the Golden Silk Boutique Hotel. However, it was still something that I believe could have been handled better, so I took a star off. I have high hopes that next time, we will have a 5 star experience.

Location and the room Only provided 2 water bottles for the day which is Not enough. The rest we had to pay. Having stayed at 5* in Nusa Dua, Bali - Golden Silk Boutique Hotel had Poor service and poor toiletry products. No shampoo or conditioner. Overall just happy to have left the hotel

Great location on the east side of the Old Quarter, a few blocks from the main market area. Excellent breakfast, very helpful staff. Hotel will exchange currency at the front desk for no fee. Overall very good value . We had 2 stays, two different rooms, both clean but a little tired and small. The 'premium' room faced the street and had a cute little balcony (with a dangerously low railing) and a walk-in shower. Ask for this type of room if you have mobility issues. The standard room had a ridiculous tub shower setup that is really awkward to get in and out of.

I don't like writing negative reviews, but something like mold affects peoples' health and this isn't ok. During the first part of our trip we stayed at a different hotel that was a fraction of the price of this place and incredibly nice (and mold free), so don't be fooled by the nice photos.

The bathroom had a bathtube. When I would shower I had to stay in the bathtube. As an old man with painfuul knees I was afraid of entering the bath tube. So I did not shower every day.

Great all rounder. Fantastic location, lovley staff and a good breakfast option/experience up 9n the 10h floor.

This is a classic French style property. Choose your room carefully. The deluxe rooms have a ‘window’ that overlooks the staircas, so there is no natural light. If you want the best quiet night sleep this IS a great room. We found it a bit dark with no natural light. The room could use a lighting upgrade which would make it a perfect room. If you want natural light select a room with a balcony. Warning,this will come with all the Old Quarter traffic noise. The hotel staff was incredible and the bar staff took great care of us during our stay. The bed was extremely comfortable! It is easy to walk throughout the Old Quarter. Everything is accessible from the property. The shower is a bit quirky and could use a bit of an adjustment. The breakfast buffet was exactly the same all three mornings. Could us a bit of variety!

The breakfast was very good-better than expected. The hotel staff were excellent: very kind and efficient and helped us book the local transportation through Grab and Be. The location was perfect! The hotel was within walking distance to many of the must see sites in the Old Quarter. Our room had a spacious bathroom, safe, hot water available, fridge, hair dryer, desk , TV and sitting area. A few of the tiles in the bathroom were cracked and the stoppers in the double sinks were hard to use.

Over all the breakfast experience is reasonable but not overwhelmingly. Just a bit bland . Needs to extend itself
