Surrounded by picturesque lawns and gardens, The Old Swan was once the famous retreat of Agatha Christie. It offers modern rooms with private bathrooms and on-site car parking. Originally an 18th-century coaching inn, it now features rooms with tea and coffee-making facilities, a TV and trouser press. Some also have a stand-alone bath and views over the garden. The traditional Swan Lounge and Bar offers a selection of beverages and afternoon teas, while the Wedgewood and Library restaurants serve fresh, locally sourced dishes. The Old Swan was home to Agatha Christie during her disappearance in 1926, and has since been used as a film set for the 1979 film, Agatha. Just a short walk from Harrogate town center, the building is 5 minutes’ walk from the famous Betty’s Tearoom and 15 minutes from Harrogate Railway Station.

The location was great for our needs. The hotel is impressive from the outside, but dated on the inside. I think with a bit time, they can improve it whilst retaining the charm that it once had. For the price we paid, I cant really complain The beds were really soft, which isnt to my preference, but not the hotels fault. The hot water needed to run for some before it heated up. the floor was really creaky. Apart from that, no other comments

Friendly staff with good service, Evening meal and Breakfast both good food. Excellent parking and location for Harrogate town centre. Room dated and quite small.

It's a lovely hotel but just a little tired in the room etc maybe just modernise in parts but keeping character. Maybe a few Xtra plug sockets too.

Like stepping to the best time warp. The Hotel was a wonder to behold. Lovely building inside and out, great setting, amazing atmosphere and simply some of the best staff / customer service, I have had in a long time. All that and great value too Nothing other a lick of paint here or there. All wera and tear and nothing serious at all.

Breakfast was very good, food hot and good selection. Hotel was clean. Bathroom was small with shower only. Biggest moan is room was very cold. Additional plug in heater in room was not sufficient to keep room warm

Price for drinks, had a steak in the restaurant and had to pay which we paid a supplement for and had to pay extra if we wanted veg.

breakfast good, location good. the sink in room 190 was cracked and leaking. We were given a voucher for 2 free drinks but were not able to use them during the time we were there.

Very clean, comfortable hotel, fantastic location, easy parking and friendly staff, plus a wonderful Christmas atmosphere. The breakfast was good, but I wouldn't recommend the evening meal, it was quite processed. I wouldn't book half board again, but would definitely stay there again.

Character, charm, location and breakfast The room was shabby and dated. The bed was small, draft under the door. The shower was really small and we are not big people

Location is perfect, staff very helpful with parking options, could do with more vegan options for breakfast though! Just the breakfast options for vegans, but otherwise great!
