The George Inn

Room spacious and clean. Pub was cosy. Restaurant also.

It was one of the better very small inns in the countryside that we stayed at. The bed was large and comfortable. The rooms are above a pub so some noise will leak through and some noise from the outside picnic tables can also be heard. We were there when it was cool so nobody was outside once the sun started down and the temperature dropped. The staff is great, we were leaving early in the morning before breakfast and they gave us some food to put in our fridge for the morning. The stairs are a bit narrow for us Americans and our larger luggage, the outside, back steps were easier to use when we left. There is onsite parking in the rear which is nice. We were there on a Sunday and had the Sunday Roast which was very large, good and filling. If you need a place to stay in Castleton, I would highly recommend it. The stairs were a bit tight, and getting into the back parking area was a bit of a tight squeeze for the car.

The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfasts were excellent (featuring the full English breakfast), the rooms were comfortable and spotless, and the beds. The inn is off the main street, so if you're looking for quiet, it's ideal.

Friendly, accommodating staff, absolutely postcard picture perfect country pub & inn.. some of the best food we had in two weeks in the UK. one room slightly obscured view and damp smell....i guess to be expected with a 500 year old inn. Room 5 was best IMO.

In Castleton close to everything we planned Limited Parking but that’s normal in Castleton.

It’s located in a wonderful village, and The George is a very nice place for a tour in the hope valley and in Castelton area. Staff super friendly.

Everything. That's why I only stay at the George when visiting the Peak district. There is nothing I disliked.

The room was very dated and the bathroom needed upgrading!

Good value for money, excellent location. I was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff. The room was pretty standard but no complaints. Big bed, as advertised, shower worked well and all was clean. There was a nice roof top area for residents only where you could sit in the evening and enjoy a bit of sun. Good breakfast. It would, for the money, be extremely nit picking to criticise.

Staff were very nice and helpful and the restaurant was good. We had a pie and chips and pizza and both were very nice. Service was also good. It was nice to have a fridge in the room.

Great location in village of Castleton. Lovely, friendly bar with good choice of drinks. Dinner was superb and breakfast was good. No fresh fruit at breakfast or juice. Asked for orange juice which we were given from behind the bar. Would have been nice to have a jug of juice readily available.

The location is perfect, right in the centre and parking available for guests. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast was lovey with a good choice, we also had two evening meals and they were superb. Staff very friendly and a good atmosphere in the bar/restaurant areas.

From start to finish, everything about The George was great. Very welcoming and couldn't do enough for you. The food was delicious, the entertainment was fun, and everyone was welcome to join in. The breakfast was hot and very tasty, plenty of choices. Complements to everyone. I will definitely be back next time we're in the area. Nothing.

Room was very nice and clean. Staff were super friendly. Excellent location in the heart of Castleton. Food was excellent both at breakfast and in the evening. Noise from the pub bar downstairs is audible in the room, but this did quieten down towards 10pm.
