What a charming and unique property. We loved the two styles of the hotel, Vietnamese and French, and the distinct characteristics of each room. There are two pools surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens. There isn't much in the way of restaurants or cafes in the surrounding area. The staff didn't really check in or bus tables in the pool areas. We might have liked to order a few more drinks. All the same, it was quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed our stay tremendously. If we every visit Hue again I will definitely make a point of returning.

Everything was just wonderful

The property is beautiful, clean and quiet. It is clear that special attention is taken everyday to care for the property. Every staff member was very warm and welcoming. They went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed our time here very much!

Breakfast was lovely. Staff treated us like royalty. Ancient Houses were spectacular. King platform bed required crawling to get in or out. Queen size normal bed would be more useful.

Beautiful! Little noise early morning from the school across but everything is so nice that’s just a minor thing.

Beautiful and peaceful hotel in serene garden setting. We had a room in the French section which was lovely - the room was spacious, comfy, beautifully decorated in old colonial style. It felt really luxurious with a great balcony. Breakfast was served in a stunning old style wooden house, the choice was so good - a la carte both vietnamese and western options with the most amazing croissants! We loved sitting by the beautiful pool (there were two pools!) - with hardly anyone around. Staff were friendly and helped us book transfers to hoi an. Probably the nicest place we stayed in our whole time in Vietnam. Hotel was a bit out of the way from the main town - which made for a much more serene setting, but it meant that we mainly relied on grab to get around, including going to the citadel, restaurants and visiting the mausoleums etc. There are some nice restaurants about 20-30 min walk, but you have to navigate the roads and motorbikes. The ancient citadel is walkable, but we got a grab as it was too hot in the day. The staff didn't have a huge amount of useful info about how to get a boat ride etc. other than directing to their own quite expensive tours.

Every aspect of this property raised to perfection: this a former Mandarin Palace, the scale and imperial lever of workmanship feels everywhere, especially in the Vietnamese’s Restaurant which is magnificent. Not only the rooms are historic, the gardens and canals in give you the feeling of being in the palace. The hotel arranged private tour for us with an excellent guide Nhu, whose knowledge and English are remarkable, the airport transfers were very comfortable, and whole atmosphere is unique and historic. The French Restaurant has to be mentioned separately for the superb menu and delicious food. nothing

We liked everything about Ancient Huế Garden Houses. We wish we could have spent more time there. The staff was very friendly, attentive and genuine. The food was excellent. We sure will miss it. Thank you for their wonderful service ❤️ None

The hotel is truly beautiful with a wonderful atmosphere. The staff are excellent—very attentive and friendly. They welcomed us warmly and made us feel very comfortable. The receptionist Nhung and the hotel manager were especially kind and helpful. We would like to thank them all 1. The hotel rooms are extremely poorly soundproofed. You can hear suitcase noises, people talking, and doors opening and closing very clearly inside your room. There is nothing they can do about this because it is due to the structure of the hotel itself. 2. The hotel restaurant has very strange rules. Water is not served with any meal because it is charged separately. In my opinion, this is very strange and even ridiculous. We attended the New Year’s Eve dinner and paid 6 million VND for 4 people. Wine was included in the dinner, but water was not. If you do not drink wine and choose to drink water instead, you still have to pay extra. They even provide free water in the rooms, but charge for water in the restaurant — which is quite laughable. 3. At breakfast, everything you eat and drink is free except water. However, even if only 5 minutes pass after you leave the breakfast area, coffee becomes chargeable. Water is charged everywhere except in your room ? 4. A hair came out of the sandwich I ordered. But this was not a major issue for me. This hotel does not even deserve this rating. I am only giving this score because of the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff.

The quality of finishing in the rooms were exceptionally good - solid wood, beautiful tiles and a gorgeous looking bathroom with Kohler fixtures. The outdoor shower looked wonderful although I did not get a chance to use it as the weather was not helpful. The breakfast was another plus for me. I love the fact that each serving was just slightly more than bite size, and we were able to order something else to try. The small bottles of homemade yogurt deserves a special mention here! The staff were wonderful and quick to respond to issues and queries. Very friendly people! Room 10 didn't have a proper towel rack. Instead it had a towel hook in the toilet section which I thought was not the best location to hang a bath towel. I think the hotel might consider putting up a proper towel rack, enough to hang two towels, in the location above the bath tub. A proper towel rack would enable bath towels to dry faster and a daily change in towels would not have been necessary.

My second time staying here. Beautiful grounds, amazing hospitality, rooms are gorgeously decorated and with the most comfortable beds. The staff goes above and beyond for everything Nothing.

Authentic experience of the bygone days. Beautiful grounds and gardens made it feel like an oasis. Very friendly, helpful and truly caring staff made us feel like queens and kings.
