The property had a great location which made it easy to see all of the tourist attractions. The walk was mostly uphill but it was only an 8 minute walk. The staff were very nice and helpful and our rooms were clean. The basement room was a little humid.

Our stay was one of the most unpleasant we’ve ever had. The entire interior of the hotel constantly smelled like sewage — every single day. The smell was so intense that we had to hold our breath just to get to our room. The rooms themselves smelled like stagnant water, nothing was cleaned during our 7-night stay, and we didn’t even receive toilet paper replacements. The bathroom was dysfunctional — the shower would clog, and water from the sink seemed to back up from the toilet area. One night we were even locked outside the hotel with no one at reception. I had to bang on the doors to get someone’s attention. The staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. Every morning, the receptionist would sit at the front desk playing loud mobile games, and their entire family was eating in the reception area like it was their living room. Not once did they greet us or offer any kind of hospitality. Overall, I would never stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. The persistent sewage smell inside the hotel alone is enough reason to stay far away.

I knew this hotel had some downsides because I read the reviews, but I decided to stay because it was cheap and well-located. To be honest, yes, the hotel isn’t pretty, and it smells a bit odd (like food, maybe), but the location is excellent. It’s about a 10- or 12-minute walk from the square with the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Personally, I liked the comfort of the beds and how spacious they were. The bathroom was okay too, and the staff was friendly, though they could have been a bit more attentive. Although the staff was friendly, they weren’t particularly attentive. However, if we asked for something, they were helpful. Small details, like the window not closing properly, the heating being too high (and not knowing how to adjust it), or having cups but no kettle, highlighted some of the shortcomings. They didn’t clean the rooms, take out the bathroom trash, or replenish the toilet paper. I even had to ask for more toilet paper myself, though they were very willing to provide it when asked. I also didn’t like that there wasn’t a map or more tourist information available in English—most of it was in Russian or Turkish, languages I don’t understand. The umbrellas available for travelers were of poor quality, which was disappointing. It felt like there wasn’t much effort to integrate travelers into the city experience. That said, considering the price, I’m not sure I could have expected much more.
