the restaurant was not open for dinner during our stay

Gorgeous balcony view of Lake Kandy. Clean efficient room. Short walk (downhill) to town. Good food. Room was a little small.

We had a very pleasant stay at Lakewood Residence in Kandy and overall enjoyed our time there. The hotel itself is very nice, with a spacious and clean room that was comfortable and well maintained. The buffet breakfast was delicious, offering a good variety and a great start to the day. One of the biggest advantages of this hotel is its excellent location - it is within easy walking distance of Kandy’s main sights, which made sightseeing very convenient. Lakewood Residence is a comfortable, well-located hotel with great breakfast and clean rooms. The only downside to our stay was the payment process. It was not mentioned prior to arrival - neither on the Booking.com platform nor in the confirmation messages we exchanged pre-trip - that the hotel only accepts Sri Lankan rupees, credit cards, or cash USD limited to $100 bills. This is important information that should be clearly communicated in advance so guests can make the necessary preparations and avoid any inconvenience at check-in

We didn’t have a good experience at this hotel since the moment we arrived the exchange rates from USD to LKR were extremely high, we didn’t have hot water in the room and breakfast was below average

My room was clean and cozy and perfect for a couple nights stay. My favourite part was my view from the balcony. It overlooked Kandy Lake and it was so serene to wake up to each day. The staff were kind, attentive, and always happy to help. I had an Ayurvedic massage at their wellness and spa centre on-site, which was much needed and very relaxing. The location is convenient as it is quite central and was also very close to the Temple of the Tooth Relic. The hotel was a little difficult to find at first since it is located behind another hotel. Otherwise, I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend Lakewood Residence to anyone visiting Kandy.

When we arrived there were a lot of bugs flying around reception (didnt seem them again, just that night), the food at the resraurant is just ok and you get the same dishes at breakfast anyway. Event though we paid for a lakeview room, as we were on the ground floor, it was sufficiently high up to have a great view of the lake, just and OK one. The Laundry service should be by weight and not itemised and despite staying there 2 nights we had to pay extra for the express service.

The room was lovely with the most incredible view. Large and clean windows, so clean that my son bumped into them :-). Stunning to wake up to that in the morning. The kids really enjoyed watching the monkeys play on the balcony in the morning but make sure to keep the doors closed! It was a charming room. We upgraded to the family room, and there was plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 kids. The breakfast was decent and catered for Westerners with a continental breakfast as well as Sri Lankan options. Decent but simple. Excellent location, just a short walk (steep) into the main area of Kandy. The jacuzzi bath was a plus, but unfortunately, the property ran out of hot water in the evening. The pool would have been nice if it were a few degrees warmer. Also, it was a bit strange to be woken up at 10.30pm to be offered a complimentary fruit platter.

The location was perfect, fabulous view, stroll from the lake, in the city in minutes. We loved a lovely walk along the lake the children’s park and back also. Great. The hotel room was great sized and well thought out. Plenty of plug sockets which is a rare find in SL. Very comfortable and clean. Everything worked great. Breakfast had plenty of options and a lovely view. Staff called us once we had settled to make sure the room was ok. Staff were helpful with our bags and brought us a welcome juice. The team were professional and helpful. We were so excited for a dip in the pool but it had been bombarded with bugs attracted to the lights. A little skim off the top would have meant we didn’t turn around and head back to our room. It’s to be expected with an open roof but a little sweep of the surface would have made all the difference. We did ask for some more water for the room and hadn’t expected the add on at check out but it wasn’t a huge drawback.

The team were fantastic, we seemed to be the only ones about and we felt like the hotel was all ours, the breakfast was ample and the pool was cool and refreshing. They were conducting some renovations whilst we were there but were only aware of this when we went for a quick dip, we would not have know from our room as we could not here any noise. the walk into Kandy was a lovely short walk of about 5 mins, just watch the traffic as it is very busy. Close to Train station, about a 8 min walk. Also take your time to visit the temple over the other side of the lake it was an absolute surprise that i had not expected. Thank you for making us feel so special on our stay in SriLanka. Nothing it was all very good

Location was great with nice view of Dalada Maligawa. Location is ok.
-
View, cleanliness - very bad approach, van can not come to gate. Very steep entrance. - although in booking.com mentioned about USD & Lkr but they refused to take USD. - Charged 3,000/- LKR more than what was mentioned at the time of booking.
-
The room was comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was really good and you have a nice view of the Kandy Lake. Also this was the first room from our Sri Lanka stay with a good shower with lots of pressure ? They told us that we can pay cash in dollar but at the arrival it wasn’t possible

Good location. Very tired rooms.
-
Everything was amazing and all the staff are very friendly.
-
Staffs were less friendly about the locations
-
I highly recommend it.
-
Excellent location and close to all facilities.

We loved the location of the hotel! Beautiful view of the lake and Temple of Tooth from the restaurant and lobby. Very close to the city center as well. The room was neat and tidy and clean, and the staff were wonderful. We want to give an extra shoutout to our tour guide Udara who took us on great adventures around the city and in the mountains. He really went out of his way so that we could have a great trip! Thank you! The pool didn’t look very nice when we checked it out because it had a greenish and muddy vibe to it. We didn’t go in because of it. A little boring that they couldn’t serve alcohol in the restaurant as well. Apart from that, we liked everything very well!
