Phunawa Resort Karon Beach Phuket

The kids club room AC wasn't cooling the room at all so we had to keep the room doors open to allow air in while kids played.

Its location and atmosphere Nothing really, everything was good

The resort is conveniently located near enough to Karon beach to walk, but far enough away that it was not caught up in the busy thoroughfare of main roadway. The restaurant staff & airport shuttle driver were exceptional! Both the restaurant & airport shuttle were surprisingly affordable. The free beach shuttle was also convenient, however, the beach was close enough that walking to & from was easier than sticking to the shuttle schedule. The accommodations were less than ideal, and blatantly falsely advertised. We booked a two bedroom suite with one king size and one queen size bed. What we received was a suite with two queen "beds" that were more like concrete slabs than actual mattresses. It may have been softer to sleep directly on the tile floor. If you have any type of back problems, this is not the resort/bed for you. One of the rooms initially had a small infestation of hornets in the windowsill, however, the hotel staff addressed it after we reported it. For some reason, in our updated room the hotel chose to use patio furniture in the living area instead of a traditional couch. While this is likely convenient for hotel cleaning staff, it is arguably tacky given it is classified as a resort. The pictures make the facilities look more modern than they are in reality.

The pool and location is quite good There was a bit of smell from the toilets and perhaps just may be our room ? They did offer alternative room but given it was pur last day we did not want go through the effort of changing

The spacious room, private pool access, and quiet atmosphere were amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The location is a bit far from the main street and beach, which required transport. Wi-Fi signal was weak in some areas.

The highlight of our stay was definitely the room — absolutely 10 out of 10! Stepping right out of the room and directly into the pool area was a fantastic experience. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Our kids had a blast, spending most of their time splashing around in the pool — they truly enjoyed it the most. Breakfast was also a treat, with an egg station and a nice selection of fresh fruits and pastries to start the day. At times, the pool wasn’t cleaned properly — grass cuttings often fell directly into the water, and no one seemed to be around to clean up after the lawn was mowed. The wall tiles around the pool also looked a bit worn, though that wasn’t a major issue. The resort is located a little away from the main road, so tuk-tuks are hard to find. However, this distance does offer a peaceful atmosphere, making it ideal for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the market.

Size of the room is great. Two bathrooms is definetly a big plus. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Cleaned the room very thouroughly. Sometimes cars of other guests were parked chaotically leaving very tight spaces for other cars to come through. The breakfast could be a bit more varied. More fruits probably. Muesli with some nuts and dried fruits also would be welcome.
