This is our second time at LE Grand Kyu Karuizawa and it was exceptional! We appreciated that they allowed us to eat dinner even though our flight was delayed and arrived 3 hours after dinner reservation. I will always remember their kindness, exceptional service, delectable dinner and hospitality. Their outdoor Onsen was a morning gift for me as I enjoyed my time alone on our last day. Thank you, LGKK staff, for another amazing experience.

From start to finish, the staff were extremely courteous and helpful. Our room was awesome...modern, clean, and very comfortable. Location was excellent also...could walk to most of the attractions we wanted to visit (old ginza street, Karuizawa Shopping Plaza, and other places. The standout though was as mentioned earlier, the staff. Top notch hotel and I will definitely be staying there the next time I am in that town!

It’s close to town making it very convenient. Exception service by the staff. My kid wasn’t feeling well and puked at the breakfast place. It was close to closing time but they stayed open for our sake until I could clean up my kid and went back to eat. Not much except maybe the it’s pricey.

The location is convenient to an interesting and beautiful area in Karuizawa. Five of the staff were very helpful - Yoshiko, Tomouka, Akiho, Shion and a gentleman whose name I forget. But a number of staff were rigid and unhelpful and the front desk manager and management team were unresponsive and useless. We won't stay here again. There are many other excellent options in the same area. Breakfast was lousy. If you book a stay here (which we definitely do not recommend!), skip the breakfast and go to one of the many local cafe spots. Dinner on site is limited to one of two French courses. No a la carte and no Japanese food. The hotel is old French/European style, so you don't feel like you are in Japan. Everything is definitely showing it's age. Customer service was often quite poor. One evening, we asked if we could have a cup of milk to take back to our room and the answer was a hard NO. There were other issues during our stay but the most frustrating thing was that hotel management told us to use the info email to communicate our concerns but then they never replied to those emails. They only replied to us when we wrote from the Booking.com website, but didn't actually do anything to address our concerns.

Exceptional service from staff who were always kind and attentive. Their Kaiseki dinner was impeccably delicious! We will return in Winter for sure!

French dinner was excellent. Breakfast buffet was also great. The checkout time 12:00 allowed us to have a walk to Kumobaike after breakfast and rest before leaving. I wish the coffee machine (pods) is provided in the room. The pajama was too thin, and I need to wear something on top to go to the public bath.

Nice bed, spacious room, great public bath with outdoor part, booking staff accommodated my requests :) remember to put out the cleaning card before you sleep! taxi from station is 700yen, bus is 100-150yen.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel itself was fantastic! The room we had was huge and was well equipped. We took advantage of the onsen/spa on the top floor which added to our relaxation. We had the hotel breakfast each morning which had a wide selection of western and japanese breakfast foods. Would stay here again.

Location and general quality of the room. Staff couldn't speak english so it was difficult to get help. Check in time is too rigid. We arrived earlier than 3 pm and the room was ready but we were not allowed access till 3. all other hotels allow early check in if the room ios ready.

The property was so beautiful and very comfortable The bar area could have been staffed better. We enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day sightseeing but the bar hours were not convenient

Great outdoor onsen which when we were there we had all to ourselves, nice to have a happy hour, room was very comfortable, good bed, pillows and linens and well appointed. Happy hour was too early, move it back a little later and add red and white wine

Cozy and warm. Staffs are great. The property is very nice and clean. The location are fine. It take around 15 to 20 minutes of walk to the outlet or 5 mins by drive. The mattress is a bit dilapidated.
