La Fontana Restaurant & Bungalows

The hotel has a good location nearby the sea and nice garden,however I could say that it is low cost hotel, for same money or little more you can have better acomodation in kedwa. I spent 6 days there from which 3 days the hotel has no electricity. The breakfast was awful, except nice juice. Which was nice was Masai,he was really nice and smily :)

Very nice restaurant... enjoyed the view and its spatious rooms, that were well equipped. Sheltered, cosey garden/patio feel. Slow, and chill vibe. Calm. At walking distance from the beach and the town centre. Shops and restaurants down the road around the corner... Kind and attentive hotel manager and staff. Hours-long daily power-outages hit town/the area. Seemed common... As there was no back-up generator/battery system present in the rooms/restaurant/hotel, the comfort-level of my stay was affected (no light, no restaurant service, no charging of devices/no fan, no AC...) which kinda torpedoed the actual experienced price/quality balance of the location. Would expect it to be anticipated for a little more.

Superb

La Fontana is a small resort, hidden in green environment, quiet, just few minutes from the beach. Staff was quite professional, dedicated to their job, we had quick feedback at every question. Breakfast was excellent, plate full of tropical fruits, natural juices, it is an offer of high quality food. During our stay, for few times we also had a dinner here, and enjoyed seafood. Place is secure and protected, clean.

Nice local staff Old school ambiance on old terrace The beautiful friendly black dog A wise word of advice to travelers to Zanzibar...only go to hotels that have generators...because there are Electrical shortages that can last many hours...makes sleeping at night impossible as it is too hot. We had 2 such nights here As for breakfast, .very disappointing...bad coffee and not much choice. Dry overcooked omelette. Some fruit. Some sort of chapati. Or slices of old white bread.. No jam no butter. We had a pizza, which was OK. We spent 4 weeks in Zanzibar and food is excellent..but not here. This hotel is left to run itself. The managers are never around( met one last night as we were leaving as he said he was busy organizing full moon party at Kendwa Rocks... a rip off by the way...selling food with a mark up music mediocre) The rooms are very small. The bathrooms are old. Had problem with toilet not flushing ( stinky) they fixed it..two days later same problem. The afternoin we left we tried to Pay our bill..the card reader did not work..hours later my friend had to run to the ATM to get cash..( not next door).as we were then supposed to be on our way to airport. No managers anywhere..very bad organisation

beautiful sea view restaurant, 5min walk to the beach, for 20$ you can get a wristband that grants you access to Kendwa rocks‘ sun beds throughout your stay. Very friendly staff! Nothing. Everything was great

Exceptional

Family room was spacious and bathroom clean. Everything worked. Food was generally OK. Nothing exceptional. Nice restaurant area with sea views and occasional breeze. Staff friendly. The $20 pp option to use the Kendra Rocks sun loungers and pool was useful. The faded (charm) of what was once someone's labour of love ... and now in the decline of absent owner syndrome. Holding onto the shirt tails of any remaining quality. And invest just a little bit of effort to make a proper safe path up to the entrance from the road.

Very good facilities next to Kendwa beach. Best restaurant and wifi of the city. You have to walk to the beach, although not far.

Location and staff Rooms smelled musty, no good ventilation, mosquitoes came in at night through cracks around the door.

It was a cheaper option for the area Location is away from tourist area. No mosquito net over bed - very surprised. Walk to the beach is not ideal unless you buy entrance to Kendwa Rocks hotel. We paid direct with KR hotel which is cheaper than offer at Fontana. Otherwise the walk is dark and isolated.
