Good location Shower pressure in Thomas room not good

I was initially allocated a 3rd floor room for one night but was swapped to a first floor room as I would have struggled with 6 flights of stairs (no lift). The tray for Tea/Coffee was dirty with crumbs, no bin in the bedroom (only bathroom). Dust all over the lampshades beside the bed and the bedside drawers were dirty on the surface. The lock on the door was difficult to lock/unlock when leaving. Tap water in a jug no bottled water provided, packet milk etc....... For the price and the standard of hotel I was expecting more and I have stayed at this hotel over the last 10 years and it felt like it had gone down hill. At breakfast there were no tongs for picking up the bread, not enough bread or plates (had to request more) and I was surprised as I'm sure when I've stayed it's not been like this previously. My Tea Cup was dirty and had to be changed too. I will probably avoid next time in the area as not what I expected for the price charged.

Lovely old building which has a great history and it is beautifully kept. Really good location too by river and middle of town. We liked everything but the parking was not close - although it was inexpensive for 24hr parking.

location was right by the river Ouse, very historical house, about a 10 min walk from the bus and rail stations and very near to the main shopping area. Easy to get around as there are many signposts. this is nit picking, breakfast could have done with vegetables such as tomatoes, though sunday breakfast did contain these. There are no lifts but the staff would more than likely assist with carrying luggage.

Great place, feels a little bit like it's slightly neglected though. I understand it was taken over by a new owner in recent years. It's a lovely building and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was ok, and the staff were brilliant. There were little details that felt odd. Rooms stacked with furniture not in use that we had to walk through, an old fridge hanging around on the landing, napkins piled up on the counter in the breakfast room, etc. Little details that could easily be sorted, but just led to an overall feel of being a bit neglected.

    Perfect location,beautiful room, great staff

Breakfast basic, awful, limited. Used to be much better under previous ownership

This hotel has a perfect setting next to the Ouse, the restaurant had a great veranda for sunny days and the bar food was good. Our views were wonderful and a perfect setting to explore the old town. However the hotel smacks of neglect, the bathroom looked like it was done poorly on the 1970s, no shower, just a bath in the room that had seen better days, and a shower tap on it that did not work, old picture holes in walls and decor that needs at least a touch up, carpet that has been nailed down to the floor, pillows that were lumpy and hard and could do with replacing. In the bar we were served dirty trays with pepper and salt on by a member of staff in an unclean uniform. This hotel has so much potential, and i have no doubt that running an establishment at the prices they charge will be making it hard to make ends meet, however just a few small bits of attention to detail would make an enormous difference

We were in Nell’s room, which was very nice with a lovely view of the river. The restaurant is very good and run by friendly staff, with the choice of a pub-like seating overlooking the river, a more formal dining room or a shady courtyard by the side entrance. The room should have been very comfortable but unfortunately our stay coincided with a heat wave and being situated on the top floor, with windows facing west and without air conditioning it was challenging - the room temperature in the bathroom reached 34C! The two electric fans provided were a godsend but it didn’t help that the bed had a thick double duvet (quickly removed from its cover) and the cleaning staff didn’t keep the curtains closed during the day. The breakfast was a bit hit and miss. It was an enjoyable two night stay despite the negatives.

Good location, friendly staff, nice clean and freshly renewed outside terrace. Room was big and had everything we needed for overnight stay. Can not fault. Very nice. Our girl tripped on broken patio tail and hurt her elbow, could do a bit with the upkeep with outside. And no parking, but there were payable parking not far, and 1h free parking to check in and unload.

    Beautiful Nothing

The staff were all geat, helpful and enthusiastic. The overall building was interesting and had history running through it. Really great views across the river out to the Wash. Bath should have been in a bathroom not in the apartment itself. The shower attachment needs replacing
