Really good location near the castle and tram lines. The staff were nice, the room was spacious. The room was very dark and had an older feel, and the corridor smelt like cigarette smoke as I think there were smoking and non-smoking rooms on the same floor. The room didn’t smell like smoke though so that’s okay

I found the bed to be uncomfortable. The alarm clock rang at 7.30 on our second night but we never set an alarm. Only one of the staff knows English.

Okus Hotel was located in a leafy part of the inner city, within walking distance of the castle. Additionally, shopping and restaurants were plentiful and easily found nearby. The hotel staff, conveniently for us, spoke excellent English and provided helpful and willing assistance. Our room was spacious, although not contemporary. The hallway to our room was heavily stained in many areas, which detracted from the overall appearance of the hotel. In addition, security was comparatively lax, although typical of an older style hotel.

- Walkable distance to Kumamoto castle. - Located near shopping center. - in winter there is only heater. If the room is too hot , the only solution is opening the window.

nice staff, early check in at 1pm. Great location close to lots of restaurants, cafes, bars, tram stop and the castle. Rooms were big for Japan. WiFi was a bit slow, but not terrible.

Room size is bigger than my expectation. The staff is very nice. 1. The step floor between bathroom with bedroom is high, I alway feel fall from high. 2. Limit car park for car's height. 3. The pillow is not comfortable.

Location was excellent for main sights. Breakfast was very good with traditional Japanese food and pastries too. The furnishing was a little old fashioned but did not detract from comfort. Quiet location but central to main shopping areas.

The location was great. Hotel room was big and clean. There's a sofa with TV, great amenities. Just right in the shopping street, 15-18 minutes from Kumamoto station, which you can walk or take the tram (few mins differences). N/A. Everything was great.
