Seehotel Sonne

The location is on Lake Zurich and is adjacent to a beautiful park and beach area. It is walkable to restaurants, grocery stores and the train. A huge bonus is the airport is a short 25 minute train ride with no transfers! You are able to catch the ferry in front of the hotel. It is an easy way to explore the lake and the very historic towns. We enjoyed a day trip to Rapperswils. Breakfast was part of our room rate and was delicious! Unfortunately, we were only able to enjoy it one time because of an early flight home. The room was newly remodeled and very spacious. The hotel has bath salts and sachets that smell amazing. This was a great touch. The property was under construction so there was a noise factor. This was not something that would prevent us from staying again or highly recommending the hotel to others. It was just unfortunate timing.

location is excellent and in summer, it must be fantastic! Easy access to the city without being in the city. We had the top floor room. I was nice, lots of space. One bed in a loft situation. Room was very warm.

The views over the lake and mountains were brilliant. The restaurant and bar service were excellent. Even though renovations were going on they kept us in a different area. Unaffected by noise or building work. Comfortable and very friendly and helpful. We were there in the winter but would love to go again with the outside terrace being open.

Air conditioning would have made it perfect

but the staircase in the bedroom. It was horrible. we couldn’t let the kids sleep there. I was with the kids on the bed downstairs, husband alone on the above.

The location and breakfast were wonderful. There was no Air Conditioning in our room.

Near by the lake and cozy atmosphere If you got a basic room, it’s very likely that you got no natural light. The room only has a really tiny window or the other option is a smaller room right next to the street.

Lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

The hotel has an enviable collection of modern art. Lakeside location, beautiful terrace and right beside boat dock, for easy touring or transport to Zurich. Also simple access to train station. An easy place to stay without a car. Rooms are quiet. Comfortable beds and good linens. Not just a variety of pillows but encouragement to select pillows of choice. Very friendly staff; beautiful building and setting. The rooms with views seem limited. Either a partial lake view or small window that you have to walk up to to see the lake. No expansive views, or at least none that were offered to us. Steps inside some rooms could be problematic for some guests but you can request room without steps. No a/c that I am aware of, except a portable unit that is a bit noisy. But better than nothing. Zurich can be quite warm in summer, so not sure I would recommend Jun-Sept.

Lovely hotel with views across the lake. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The shower kept running hot and cold which was not ideal.

I liked the cleanliness, the facilities, and the location. I love the quiet lake, the small-town feel, the nearby gas station, hair salon, access to Ferry, and CG Jung Institute. I wish the restaurant had more options. For me I stayed for 6 days and I felt there were not a lot of options.
