Owashi Lodge - Hostel

Excellent Location and price. Definitely worth it. Spacious rooms and excellent price compared to other hostels. Warm and comfortable. Excellent breakfast provided. Would be better if there were lockers and better storage in rooms since the rooms are large. When I arrived, the blanket was not inside the cover properly so I had to fix it up in the middle of the night which was inconvenient. Would be amazing to have a lounge or similar. The lounge area and drying room downstairs smelt really odd

The location is literally at the base of the mountain. However signage is VERY poor. El Loco taco seems to be the focus of the sign when Owashi lodge is very small making it challenging to find on arrival. LOUD LOUD LOUD. If you want to sleep do not come here. It’s basically like a college dorm. Young people partying all night long.

They scammed me out of money

Excellent location, nearby 2 gondolas, ski rental, restaurants and an onsen. Super helpful and caring staff! Loved it!

Breakfast was bland but sufficient. Cleanliness of the basement lounge.

Located near the main Grand Hirafu gondola station, 5 min walk max with ski gear. Window in bedroom cold enough to keep beers cold so that was a huge plus. Really simple accomidation and well worth the price. Stairs to boot room need more anti-slip mats as in boots can be very hazerdous. Breakfast is really simple and there isnt enough toasters for everyone in the morning time.

The location was excellent and staff were really friendly. I wish there had been cozier hangout locations in the main area, mirrors in the bedrooms would have been more convenient, less fluorescent lighting and warm tones would have been homier. Showers were interesting, preferred the Onsen experience a block away. Would have liked a discount there if possible.

Location and room were excellent. 5 minute walk to every reason you are in Hirafu in the winter - gondola, ski rental, onsen, and like 50 izakayas/food trucks. Wifi works. I had a private bathroom. Wish I was traveling with friends so we could hang out in the sweet lofted bunks. Breakfast was a bit limited and the coffee was instant (not a hater, I like instant coffee - just not when I pay for breakfast). At least there were boiled eggs.

We stayed in Owashi few times in the past. They did significant renovations, it is much better than it used to be before.

The staff were so so so welcoming and accommodating, especially Connie, and the rooms were extremely clean! The location seriously cannot be beat! Nothing!

The location is excellent, just a 4 to 5 minute walk from the chairlift. The rooms & also the toilets could be cleaner. Guests tend to speak loudly in the corridors around 2:00 a.m., and there doesn’t seem to be any supervision to control the noise. Breakfast is very basic.

Location. Everything we needed in one building. The heating equipment in the room had a heavy combustible smell. We ended up with headaches in the mornings. The hostel was full and couldn't change rooms.
