We were disappointed with the breakfast. The first morning, we got the traditional Japanese breakfast, which was fun to try but not something we would order again. The second morning, we ordered the Western breakfast, which was a small salad and two sandwiches. Unfortunately, both breakfasts were not cooked on site but came from a catering company. Apart from the soups in the Japanese breakfast, everything was cold. The Western breakfast felt quality-wise like any conbini food. Given the cost of the room, this made us quite unhappy. The other con (which was known beforehand) is that the place is far away from the city center - it takes about 30-45 minutes by bus to most "typical" sights. So I'd recommend it rather if you're looking for some peace and quiet, or if you're willing to take a cab.

Loved the property and a little off the beaten path so nice and quiet! I can’t think of anything it was amazing
-
The room had a lot of charm, the lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful to find good options for dinner and breakfast ( no service at the property) Location was great in a small steer near Kitano Tenmanju temple All was perfect

The water was cold in the shower. The guest upstairs was loud but the staff told them to quiet it down eventually.

Fantastic bed comfort. Mini onsen type bathroom. Great breakfasts, very Japanese. Location and easily accessible by walking or bus to many sites. Better options laid out for local dining or other area features in the room. Otherwise fantastic overall.

The property was clean, quiet, great privacy, customer service, and amenities The only thing I did not like is our room was right next to the small outdoor smoking area, and there were a few times the smell of cigarettes was really bothersome
-
Beautiful property! Great location! What an amazing room! There was so much space! We wanted the onsen but weren’t aware you’re supposed to book them in advance. Nothing!!!

Facilities were good, staff was very nice and accommodating. Good blend of modern amenities and classic Japanese style. Area was peaceful and nice to walk around. Not a real ryokan by far. Aircon in bedroom stoped working after the first night. Constantly musty. Private Onsen was directly connected to the smoking garden. Breakfast was advertised but never offered.

Staff was very helpful. Facility was peaceful and clean. Very homey atmosphere.

Outdoor bath is lovely and its a really comfortable stay Sometimes other guests can be noisey

The location was beautiful and clean. I loved the tradition style of the room. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The bed was super comfortable. The stairs to our room were a little steep and narrow, but this didn’t deter from our stay.

Modern facilities and service in a traditionel japanese style. Very spacious rooms (a small apartment). The ryokan is in a cosy, quietly street A bit far from city center and main attractions, restaurants etc. No metro lines nearby (but bus lines).

Loved the place and the comfort experience of Ryokan. Great location and we could visit 3 well-known places in walking distance. Had amazing stuff and amenities of a private open bath experience. Highly recommend! The breakfast could have been a bit better with more sweet and other options (rather than tofu and soy in most of the dishes), still was a good experience.

This is a lovely place to stay that's a bit out of the way of the crowds and in a lovely traditional street without the external wires that spoil a lot of the other traditional areas. It's close to several temples and shrines and the Haradani garden (30 min away by bus) is a must visit spot in spring. The staff was lovely and the place smells of wood with lovely traditional elements. Can recommend for a higher end stay in Kyoto.
-
Great location ; very nice room ; very clean and confortable; staff was not very helpful or knowledgeable about tourism or locations we wanted to visit.

The room is HUGE. Comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and TWO baths. One inside and one outside. You can slide open the wall between so you and your partner can both enjoy a bath inside and outside. It felt great staying here and was truly a luxurious experience. It was quite expensive. The main issue with the place is that it's really far from the tourist locations. The only one that's close is Kinkakuji. You also can't really take a simple train or bus ride to the station, you need to take a bus ride to a nearby station and then take the train. We just took a taxi each time we wanted to go somewhere as public transport was just too much of a hassle.
-
Lovely room, however, the hotel is a little outside of town and requires a bus ride in

The staff was very professional and courteous. The location was a little off the beaten path, which was really nice in busy Kyoto.. and just a 5 minute drive to the Kinkaku-ji. The private outdoor onsen sealed the deal and was incredibly relaxing after long days of walking around the temples. There was NOTHING that I didn’t like. Even the beds were very comfortable!
