The best hotel for me I like everything

This is an excellent place, the building is beautifully decorated, with a mix of traditional Japanese and modern. The spa was amazing, with great facilities. My favorite part, was definitely the library, a quiet traditional space with comfortable puffs where you can read the 24 hours is open. The room was very spacious, and they provide a nice robe you can use to go directly from the room to the spa. The people that worked at the reception were extremely nice and friendly, always with a smile greeting you. I would recommend this place to anyone planing to visit Kyoto.

The location was wonderful There was construction going on right next to the hotel. It was really load. There was no cold plunge in the woman’s bath and the pillows were too hard for us.

The old converted tearoom was so cool to explore and have our daily coffee in. As well the included spa access was amazing to have after days of walking

The location was great. The lobby and reception area was lacking. No place to sit comfortably.

Lovely hotel with interiors inspired by a traditional Japanese house. The rooms are modern and well equipped. I definitely recommend upgrading to a larger room — it gives much more comfort and enough space to open and organize luggage. Nice onsen facilities for both men and women. They also have areas for guests with tatami floors where you can enjoy your book with a cup of tea. The location was excellent. Many local ramen shops and restaurants nearby, plus easy access to Nishiki Market with plenty of street food and shopping options. Close to the metro and convenient for reaching major sights. Also only two metro stops from Kyoto Station, making transfers to local trains to Nara, Osaka or the Shinkansen very easy. Overall, a great choice for staying in Kyoto. Would definitely search for Candeo Hotels in other cities. Breakfast was okay — served in bento boxes and you need to choose between Japanese or Western style two days in advance. There is not much variety so it can get boring.

The bathroom facilities were great. Water pressure good and temp great. The mirror is too small. Water bottles were provided daily. Great location The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable. There is no sitting area if you have a 3rd person staying with you. No drawers for clothes. Very cramped to even walk around in.

Great hotel overall. Nice enough sized room for Japan, really nice onsen, helpful staff, clean, cool common space, and good location. Bed was very firm.

Very good location. Good onsen. Poor lounge facilities. Clean and comfortable room. Reasonable price. Staff seemed stressed and not particularly helpful.

Not being able to bring in food / drinks to the lounge area was a little restrictive, though I understand why.

Excellent location. There’s a grocery store nearby, so you can skip the FamilyMart and 7/11s if you want even cheaper food and drinks. The entrance is an older, traditional-style building (not where the rooms are), so it does come with a few quirks: if you’re over 170 cm you’ll need to duck under some beams, the stone flooring makes it a bit tricky to move large luggage, and the foyer/check‑in area is quite small. The rooms themselves are nice, modern and a good size for two adults, though we did notice some damage around the sink, mirror, and cabinet area. Overall, it’s a charming blend of old and new, and we had a really good experience! I found it very strange that the ofuro/bath lighting is positioned inside the pool area — this really shouldn’t be the case. The change room you enter through is also small, which makes it difficult to move around when it’s busy. It could have been hotter as well, though I’m part Japanese and have been to much hotter onsens, so my expectations may be higher than most. I’ve added a photo of the facilities for reference.

Awesome place. Huge and super comfy bed, great facilities, amazing bathroom. The lounge was great, the public bath exceeded our expectations. Nothing.

We didn’t like the location, it is a bit far from the center, and with a baby it is a game changer.. Also the cleaning service is requested in a weird way Via the TV so it was confusing ? and frustrating The Onsen is not for tattooed people, be aware

Located close to the train and near a lot of great restaurants. Quiet and clean The staff is hit or miss. They don’t explain much. No coffee in the room and it’s super small. For the value I think you can find a better hotel in the area.

The room felt rundown and dirty. I felt very gross being in the room as the carpets and bathroom weren’t cleaned and the walls had stains and spots. The bed was very uncomfortable. The staff was not very helpful or friendly and everything felt like an inconvenience. The overall facility had potential, but it felt run down and unwelcoming. It really negatively affected our experience and view of Kyoto.

Best combination of modern (rooms) and classic Japanese (lobby areas). Very clean. Great onsen. Staff are excellent and very patient. Japanese breakfast was great but western breakfast not so good.

Great location next to the major shopping street and walking distance from Kamogawa river. The reception desk, lounge and breakfast are all in the traditional Kyoto house and the rooms are in the modern building just behind it. Pretty cool mix of traditional vibes and modern comfort. Everything was great.

- Location - Nice entrance hall - Friendly staff lower rating due to: - Cleanliness of the room (very stained carpet, damaged walls, slightly dirty shower and black mold above lavatory) - cold draft through the room that could not be turned off - Were told that staff does not enter room without us requesting it over the TV / they do to change towels though. Miscommunication at the reception.
