Traditional Ryokan with a private bathroom in an excellent location in Gion. With in walking distance to a shrine, restaurants and shops; and the local train stop. Very helpful staff. an ice machine would have been nice.
-
Didn't eat there. the shower was great. room was fine The would have been nice to have a top sheet as the comforters were heavy for the summer. It would have been nice to have a blackout curtain on the main window.

If you want to get the real Japanese experience, you should stay at a ryokan once. We did so and we were really satisfied with this place. The staff was nice, the room was clean and spacious, they had a good AC and sleeping on the tatami floor was surprisingly comfortable for us. We also had the traditional Japanese breakfast, it’ s worth to try once. It’s also located in Gion, very close to the Yasaka Pagoda, so in the early morning we could go out for a walk and take pictures before the crowds. We liked everything about the property, nothing to complain about really.

Great location right in Gion, walking distance to key sights and just steps from great food options. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, very attentive and helpful. The room itself was comfortable and well-appointed, a perfect base for exploring Kyoto. NA

Friendly, clean, close to everything. Four people only 2 set of bedding.

Overall Ryokan experience and being close to one of the most iconic locations in Kyoto
-
Amazing experience. Only spent one night here, but I still yearn to be in a room so peaceful and clean. The location was amazing.

The staff is exceedingly polite and accommodating. The highlight of the stay was the amazing traditional Japanese breakfast. That means grilled fish, soup, egg omelette with various inclusions (ginger, chives, fish, eel, etc.), picked or simmered vegetables and roots or seaweed for side dishes. This is not an American breakfast by any means, which I think is a good thing but if you're not used to it then it can seem weird. The rooms are traditional tatami, so you remove your shoes and sleep on futons on the floor. Again, this may or may not be your thing, but I loved it. The whole experience was pretty much a traditional Japanese bed and breakfast, with all the charm and hospitality you would expect from any small, personal and friendly establishment.

Staff was awesome. Location was really good! Kaiseki dinner was good, but expensive for what you get

The staff were very warm and welcoming and the room very clean and comfortable. Traditional Japanese breakfast was beautifully presented with more than I could possibly eat. Quiet side street in Gion, perfect for wandering on foot and also easy walk to downtown Kyoto. I would definitely stay there again.

Location is absolutely amazing. Gion, temples - everything is accessible in minutes.
-
Very nice hotel with a traditional feel. the location is very good in Gion, close to major attractions and easy to walk around the area.
-
Friendly staff very nice traditional breakfast ! Very convenient to local gardens and shrines.
-
The location was OK. We wanted to try a traditional/authentic Japanese food/hotel, but this place is a bit old for us. The food was interesting with many tiny/cute dishes/presentation but the taste was not to our liking.
-
Very relaxing and peaceful. The staff were amazing, and the location of the hotel was close to so many amazing shrines.
-
Great location, great customer service, clean facility. They offer Japanese breakfast which was a nice option! Not that I can think of

The traditional breakfast was delicious and the staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable. I would recommend everyone have the breakfast at least once when staying here!

It was all lovely; clean, tidy, and incredibly well taken care of. Nothing really! It was perfect for our trip.

This is an amazing property. I would rate it higher if I could. Everything from arrival to check-out was flawless. We felt like we were in a 5-star luxury hotel by the way we were treated. This is an authentic and wonderful ryokan. Close to restaurants, historical sites, temples, shopping, and so much more. We didn't want to leave!

Breakfast was exceptional! It is a great way to "ease into" the kaiseki experience for those who are unaccustomed to it. They were accommodating to our granddaughter's vegetarian request. Mr. Badal Damodar was particularly helpful and kind to us, especially our 10 year old granddaughter. Nothing! Well, an onsen would be nice, but probably not to be expected in the middle of Gion, which was a definite plus.
