Location was perfect, staff were helpful, loved the onsen and the access to the free coffee machine in the lounge area was great The only disappointment was that we had no storage in our room, no draws and no closet to hang clothes. Staying 9 nights made it a bit hard to keep our room tidy and organised

Great location friendly staff. Only had 4 washing machines. Didn’t like that there was a designated smoking room. Wish there was no smoking at all.

Great location, easy access, lovely public bath, kind staff, free drinks were enjoyable. Beds and pillows were uncomfortable. But, I slept like a rock and woke up refreshed and without pain anyways, so still overall a great hotel! Breakfast seemed overpriced at 3300 yen pp. We didn’t bother.

This hotel was in a great location for walking around Kyoto. The facilities were good, and the shower was terrific. There was a taxi stand just 1.5 blocks down the main street, so that was an easy way to get to the train station without having to coordinate calling for a taxi. There was complimentary coffee in the lobby (but we did not find this out until the last day). Small things that would have helped: 1. it would have been nice to have a heads-up that the entrance to the hotel was on the side street, despite the location appearing to be on the main street. 2. it would have been nice to have towels available for use in the onsen. 3. it would have been nice to know that the onsen is closed for several hours during the afternoon each day 4. the breakfast was expensive, so we did not partake, and it would have been nice to know there was complimentary coffee for all guests.

Nice hotel, nice staff, clean friendly, felt safe. First issue: We paid for a triple room. They just opened a sofa bed for the third person. I dont mind sleeping on a sofa bed but this left no space in the room to walk or sit or open luggage. It made the room very cramped and hard to manage the luggage. Second issue: They charged extra taxes of 3400 yen. the booking online stated that there should be no extra payment. This was a surprise and we had no option other than paying it.

Everything Nothing

The public bath was quite quiet, most of the time we were the only ones there. The sake in the drinks bar was nice and smooth, very easy to drink and enjoy. Finding the entrance to the hotel was a challenge when we arrived. Googlemap placed the hotel on the main road, while the actual entrance was along a side road.

The carpet had holes in it and the hotel itself seemed to be in need of repairs.

The pictures of the hotel rooms made them look newer and cleaner than they actually were. There were stains on the curtains and the wallpaper in my room which was off putting. I got the bigger king room, but it was still small and there was a lot of unusable space that was part of the reported room space. I now know that it was a cheap hotel, so had I known what I know now, I would have spent more money for a better hotel.

The hotel is located in Kawaramachi, which I think is the best street in the city to stay on. With so many shops, cafes, and restaurants nearby, it’s a fantastic place to be. Room was clean and overall comfortable. The room felt a bit too small compared to other hotels. We had to tiptoe over our luggage because there wasn’t much room for more than one. Plus, the walls were so thin that I was woken up by the sneeze or alarm from the room next door. The breakfast wasn’t great, especially considering the price. There weren’t many choices, and all the meat options were pork.. no chicken or beef. After our first breakfast order in the hotel, we decided to grab a bite at the cafes nearby instead.

Great location with all the necessary amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Rooms are small, but that is to be expected. Very lovely staff.

Great place near at the hearth if tourist are and good access. Facility was good. Great breakfast.
