Ryokan Nenrinbo

Found 2 bugs in my kaiseki meal. Also the small public bath room was too humid. The large public bath is very nice but it was closed on my first night and only the small bath was available.

Across the street, there’s a lovely local ramen restaurant where we enjoyed a pleasant lunch and excellent service.

Beautiful grounds, public bath was amazing, kaiseki dinner and breakfast was delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. I booked the traditional room, with a futon and tatami mats and slept amazing.

Nothing.

Everything was well attended to, the quality of care Nenribo provided was excellent

The room is great! Spacious and sparkly clean. I love the public osen as well. Clean and has a big window facing the mountain. You can really relax here. Plus the dinner and breakfast were perfect as well. You can taste a lot of Kyoto traditional dishes. Only downside is hard to commute by public transit. I took an uber which was not bad. Since you wanna go to the suburbs for views. And they have shuttles in the morning to take you to the nearby train station which is very thoughtful.

The shuttle should run more frequently and I wish the garden could be visited. The pool was also closed

The only thing that would have made this stay perfect is an outside onsen. The inside onsen is very nice.

Everything about this Ryokan was perfect! It was so breathtaking and relaxing. Highly recommend staying here on your visit to Kyoto!

An amazing Ryokan experience!

An amazing real Ryokan experience

The location is a pro and con--it's pretty far out of the way which means it may take a while to get there via bus and there also aren't a lot of restaurants nearby, but if you're looking to stay in a quieter part of town with more surrounding nature, the location is perfect.

Location away from the crowds, quiet

Amazing! Everything was perfect except for one thing: the bed mat. Maybe I’m just a wimp but the bed mat was too thin. I had trouble sleeping the first night but then I got used to it the next night. Overall, wonderful experience.

Being in the foothills of Kyoto, this Ryokan offered tranquillity like nowhere else. The service was absolutely exceptional, the breakfast was huge and immaculately presented. The onsen was so hot and soothing. It was just the perfect peaceful getaway that we needed after the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and Osaka. Being a traditional Ryokan, the tatami mats directly on the floor may not be to everyone's liking (there's not much in the way of cushioning), however that did not stop us from immersing fully into the traditional ways of japan!

The hotel was very clean. I loved the traditional aesthetic with the paper doors and tatami mat rooms. The layout of the hotel is also quite interesting with the hallway areas resembling that of an art museum. There were also nice looking garden spaces between the buildings. The location is pretty far out from most popular destinations in Kyoto. Though this was known prior to booking, I was not aware how far out it actually was. A saving grace is the presence of a bus stop not too far from the hotel. Though outside of the hotels control, another minor thing to be aware of was the cellular service this far out was very spotty.

We love the garden view from our balcony, nice area, quiet and feel relaxing, luxury stay with kaiseki dinner breakfast and high quality futon beds and blankets Nice view from public bath however not sure it is mineral water, do not feel onsen to me as we have been in some authentic onsen in Japan
