The authentic vibes Not having the ability to go in and out without handing the keys to the staff, it was very bothering.

I wish I could have stepped into the beautiful Zen garden. Watching from the window was a little dissapointing.

Easy access to Nishiki Market and Kyoto train station. Clean and very nice staff. Women’s spa. Something different. Hard to come and go, must leave shoes and give key to front desk.

First time trying Ryokan, it was nice experience. I stayed one night solo in a double room, they gave me a comfortable futon bed on a tatami floor, a small table equipped with green Japanese tea and hot water and matcha chocolate, and a small TV. It had a balcony with a table and a view on a beautiful indoor garden, there was also a Yukata you can use stay during your stay. The staff member was very hospitable and kind and clearly showed me around. There is a sento (Japanese bath similar to onsen) on the ground floor. The traditional Japanese breakfast was exceptional experience. Nothing

The whole facility was impeccably clean and matched the traditional atmosphere of the city. The staff was so accommodating and truly made us feel like we were at home. The location was perfect for exploring Kyoto.

It was close to many different restaurants and the local market was very walkable! The spa / bathhouse was also really really nice! It definitely reminded me of the onsens that we visited earlier in the trip. The hosts were incredibly kind and genuine. The ryokan property itself felt very historic and it felt cool to be staying at such an old property. The property was also incredibly clean. It was too long to walk from the train station, but it’s a short and inexpensive uber/taxi ride. The showers were only available in the evening.

Amazing friendly stuff, perfect location, warm, plenty of facilities. Everything was perfect.

Great location. Friendly staff. Just outside the front door is a lovely alcove. There is a pretty small central outdoor square. The food available is very traditional Japanese and lovely. There was a private shower and toilet in our room. The rooms we had were pretty small and felt a bit dingy. I did notice that they had larger rooms and suites that looked over the beautiful small central yard with Koi fish pond. The bathroom was very small.

The pictures look a little different than what the property is in real life. It's a little outdated.

Charming little ryokan. Staff could not have been nicer. English is limited, but we were able to communicate effectively. Location was convenient to the train and sites. This is what I'd call a bare-bones ryokan. If you're looking for a large onsen and higher end experience, this is not the one for you. This is small and somewhat dated, but that's oddly part of its charm. It served our purposes nicely for a short stay Common areas could use some updating, but the staff was so charming and our private space was pleasant.

It was in walking distance to almost everything very close to the train station. It was clean. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I didn’t like that they took my key when I left. I didn’t understand why I’ve just never had that happen. Although nothing came of it. It was just weird to me.

Very clean and traditional. Great area within walking distance of great shops and restaurants. Attentive staff that were friendly and tried their best to be helpful even with a language barrier. There was no way to indicate we did not need room cleaning and we were interrupted during our midday nap multiple times.
